    New to me 23V!

    Hey Guys,
Been lurking here for a while and finally pulled the trigger on my 23V.
It's an 2001 model in decent shape. Needs a good cut and buff and some cleaning but otherwise solid.
I'm in middle TN and picked the boat up in Knoxville.

I've got a few initial questions that can hopefully be answered.
First up is the tower, I've read so much about the metcraft towers from this year and how bad they are. I believe mine *Should* have one, but it doesn't look like the pictures I've seen. It does sat "Tige" on the side though so it's a factory tower of some kind I think. Just trying to determine if I should just replace it or overhaul it. It's definitely loose, but I haven't tried tightening it up yet.

    Second question is:
The genius who had it before me really butchered some stuff (wiring mostly) so I've got a bit of resto work to do. He also "misplaced" the passenger captains chair which I really wanted. Does anyone have one sitting around the they would be willing to part with? Upholstery condition isn't important.

I cant remember if that one is a Metcraft or not, However, if it is a Metcraft, its not the bad one, so no worries.

So this is one of the famed twin chair models?

Worst case, just buy a standard Attwood seat and etc. In the 11 years hanging out here, I can only recall a couple others with that configuration.

It's the same as the captains chair, so maybe someone has upgraded or replaced their original seat and has one taking up space in the garage. If not because he lost the seat he threw in a YETI 110 that fills the space nicely haha

I wish I got the 23V.. Could have used the extra space! Welcome to the club!

Looks identical to my Wake Designs tower. Welcome aboard!

It is a Wake Design tower, it was offered as an option for 2003.

                  Hmm.
I wonder if someone swapped towers or if the boat is an 03?
I guess it's possible it had no tower and it was added by a dealer around 03.
In TN we don't have titles so is there a way to tell year by hull number or some other indicator?

The hull ID is molded into the transom. Last 2 digits will be the last 2 digits of the year model. So @%#$!&#%@03 for example.

That's what I figured. 01 it is then. Odd.

Next question is the taps is not working, i have no issue with the electrical my question is the pump in mine does not look like the one I have seen posted all over here (the square one with the reservoir) it's a reservoir with a cylindrical motor on top. I'll have more info on it tonight as I plan to get it working.

SONIC, Welcome to family and such a cool boat I love watching these restoration threads. We all get to learn how truly one-of-a-kind these boat really are. Keep the questions coming. Lee is a wealth of knowledge on everything Tige related, Chpthril will be your ballast, stereo, wiring master, and boatwakes when he checks in is the motor guy. Plus all the other guys here that all have a ton of knowledge on these boats. cool
My life's journey is not ending up looking pretty, its sliding in broadside, used up, worn out, screaming "What a Ride"

Appreciate the warm welcome guys, I'll be posting some update photos etc as things progress. At the moment I just want to get it water worthy and enjoy the rest of the summer!
This winter it will see some teardown and rebuild action.

You are lucky you got that tower... I have a Gen 2 Metcraft and somehow (knock on wood) with slight modification I have been able to keep it going. The first generation ones were really bad! How long of a boating season do you guys have over there in TN?

I'm glad I got it too, I was prepared to rebuild it as needed, hopefully with this one I can just tighten everything up and go from there!
Depends on how cold you can handle it! Really it just depends on how many cold snaps we have. The lakes stay warm some years and others we have a few random weeks of cold weather and boom everything is freezing. I think this year we'll be out until late sept maybe a little into Oct.
