    New Tige 22v owner

Hi everyone I just purchased a 2004 22V. It is the Riders Edition with no Ballasts. I am in Utah and purchased the boat out of California. The ACME prop says it is 537 13.5X16 L4B 1 1/8. Any ideas on if it will perform at 4,500 to 5,550 feet. Also has anyone experienced issues with the EFI not adjusting to altitude and running rich? Thanks for any input super excited to join the club!!!!

The 537, if a 4 blade is even the proper prop, will struggle at that elevation with ballast and or a large crew. Step 1), confirm the v-drive ratio. Blue or black V-Drive.

So youve got the 1.46:1 ratio and a 4 blade is the right prop. The ACME 1617 would be a solid choice but I might consider the 2571 depending engine, size of crew and hoe the boat will eventually be ballasted and used.

The 537 wouldn't even bring it to plane this weekend. I have a 1617 ordered, but I'm a bit nervous something else is going on. It started and went in and out of forward and reverse fine, but just wouldn't wind up and go beyond about 15 mph. I disconnected and reconnected the batteries thinking it might not be sensing the 5,000 foot elevation change, no go any ideas anyone???

Sounds like it's in a derate. I would start by getting engine ECM scanned and see if there are any codes active or previous codes stored. Will help rule out a derate mode and point towards other mechanical issues. What were your top RPMs??

It certainly behaves like it's in limp mode, no alarm sounding while it's doing this, but I do get an intermittent trans oil light on. It will only wind to about 3000 RPM in gear. On this boat should I get a single beep and then no sound when I turn the key from off to on? I get a steady beep until the boat is started?

Stuck at 3000rpm certainly sounds like a derate. Guessing that if you get codes read they will be throttle related. am a few guys have had issues on those MP engines. Voltage at throttle potentiometer has to be perfect and TCM has to have a good ground and power. If you contact marine power I'm sure they will send you the info you need as it's not a first for them. Could try that and see if it clears up before taking it to get computer scanned. Where are you located?? Any reputable inboard shop should have Diacom and be able to at least read codes.

Northern Utah, the Tige dealer is a little out of reach for me. I have a place holder with a solid marine shop next week. I'm hoping the prop get's here before the end of the week. I'll put it on, double check the grounds and put it in the water for one more try. If no go I'll get it in next week. It will wind up in neutral no problem it was just not doing it in forward. I appreciate the input, just want to get a few more good day's in before the season winds down and put it away ready to go in the spring.

Leaning back towards it just being the prop. Borrowed a fake a lake from a buddy today and it starts and winds up just fine out of water out of gear. Prop won't arrive until next Wednesday so it's hurry up and wait.

Hope that's the case. Low fuel pressure issues will also only present themselves when prop has a load on it. So boat can run great on trailer but not in the water. If prop doesn't solve it then would start looking at fuel pressures next.

The steady alarm you are hearing when the key is on is the low oil pressure warning, which is why it turns off after the boat is running. Freeheel4life has pretty much nailed the 2 major culprits on the MP motor. Having been up at Powell and in altitude I can attest to the significant loss in power. Are you running ballast or a big crew? Even at 5000' that boat should still plane out without a problem with no ballast, what is your TAPS 2 Plate at? Last but not least make sure your cruise control is OFF, its kind of a tricky system on that boat make sure the toggle switch on the dash is off.

Thanks for the great input!! There are no ballasts and there was a crew of 8, but only two adults. I tried the TAPS in both position to see if it would help plane it out with no help. I will read up and check on the Perfect Pass tonight. My set-up is with the small circular control with on/off and speed up and down buttons. I believe the settings appear on the multi-function display on the speedo.

That was not what I expected. Put the boat in the water tonight with 1617 prop. It was looking good to start with, the boat planed leaving the wake less zone. Drove around a few minutes and it was handling well but would only top out about 35 MPH and it seemed a bit slow to come up to plane. Stopped and started a couple times and it would come to a plane but seemed sluggish. Put my daughter in to ski and after a couple pulls it was struggling to plane at all. Checked the engine compartment and lots of water. Switched on the bilge with no go. We limped back in and put it on the trailer. I pulled the plug on the ramp and the boat was loaded with water. I didn't see any water the other night running it with the fake a lake so maybe the shaft seal??? Going into the marine shop manyana.

                            I appreciate all the input!

Shaft seal would be the best guess right now... especially if you were fake a lake running it with no issue in the impeller areas.. However when under load everything changes... good luck at the shop and keep us posted! You have some real Tigé experts on here so look to them as well! I am still just an apprentice around these parts...
