    Winterizing for real winters

Guys, I live in Canada and just recently purchased an 04 22V. This is where yes, the temperature goes well below freezing for months at a time.

I have read most of the discussion about winterizing and have appreciated the tips. I just want to confirm that I have done all I need to and haven't forgotten anything...

    - I washed the boat ( I live on a lake and the bottom had 2 weeks of scale)
    - I fogged the engine
    - I drained the manifolds
    - I drained both sides of the engine block
    - I drained the V-drive
    - I drained the tranny heat exchanger
    - I blew out the heater hoses with compressed air
    - I used the bucket and "fake lake" attachment method to add RV anti- freeze to the system
    - I removed both batteries
    - I oiled the deck
    - I greased the steering cable
    - I drained all water from the bilge
    - I filled the tank and added stabilizer
Anything critical that I have over looked?
The tech. at my dealer told me that adding RV anti-freeze isn't that necessary - as Tige's that get shipped up here in winter just come drained without any anti-freeze.

Your dealer's right, the anti-freeze is unnecessary if you drain the block, manifolds and water pump (don't forget the water pump, it's easy to miss).

Anti-freeze can help with preventing corrosion... that is one benefit of it. That's the main reason I do it.
Being a major OU fan and a staunch conservative.... I am perpetually vexed w/ the conundrum of who to hate more. Obama or the Univ. of Saxet.

Or you could move to Texas, we don't have gators in every lake

How did you fog the engine, don't you have fuel injection?

Right throught the throttle body, just like a carb.

My boat service shop(Calgary power boats) told me not to fog fuel injected engines. He did say that when he's changing the fuel filter he will fill it with 50:1 mix of 2 stroke oil and gas. Fire the engine for 30 seconds and that oil will do a much better job of lubing all the internals.

Lets think about this.... It's not ok to fog a fuel injected eng, even thought the only differance is how the fuel is introduced. but he thinks it's ok to run 2cyl oil through the injectors!!!!!!! I can tell you that automotive style injectors are not ment to handle the additives that are in 2cyl oil.

Actually, you need to drop Texas down to the level of Florida. I'd also like to point out that all those other states (except for maybe Canada and it's not really a state) combined are smaller than Texas. Plus, we don't have gators, so I vote Texas!

                            Meanwhile, back at the thread...

You might want to remove the impeller and keep it in a warm spot, the cold tends to make them brittle the following spring.
