    2007 Tige 22Ve Throttle Issues

    Hi all

Having issues with my boat (has the 340 HP option). It starts fine and if I put it in forward or reverse right away (within 15 secs maybe) it works.

If it sits for even 30 seconds there is no throttle response. It goes into gear, but won't go faster then a few miles and hour even with full throttle. In reverse same thing. Goes into gear but it has maybe 5% power.

If I turn the key off, then back on throw it into gear right away it works. I have to reset like this every time I stop. Which is a real pain for watersports.

    Any insight, or ideas?

Battery was fully charged last weekend. So it should be fine.

Sure sounds like limp mode. No alarm buzzer? Theres a few things it can be, most likely being the throttle/peddle position sensor on the back of the throttle lever assembly.

Ya I would agree seems like a limp mode however the weird part is it only happens if I idle for more than 20 seconds. If I give it gas right away, it works?? No buzzers either.

I cant comment on specific diagnostics, but it sounds like a sensor out or range, and after a timer is met, they system defaults. To me its likely a pedal (throttle lever) or throttle position sensor that is out of range. Really need to put a scan tool on it, look at codes set and sensor readings.

Those marine power engines have had that problem. There's a bulletin out there where you feed the throttle control module (TCM) a good dedicated power and ground and also calibrate TPS sensor at handle. If TCM sees any difference between throttle body and handle it will trigger limp mode. I'm sure if you use search function here you can find a more detailed write up. If not I'd call marine power directly and I'm sure they will email you all there info.

**Exact same thing happened on my 2006 22V - Double check your battery(ies) I'm only running one battery and my NEG on my BRAND NEW battery was loose and when I 'giggled' it the boat went into 'LIMP' mode. Check the EASY stuff first! Good Luck and post your findings/resolution - Thanks

I tried a different battery with the same results. Took it to the dealer and they confirmed the code coming back was a failure in the electronic throttle control. They are waiting for instructions from Tige on how to make adjustments to the ETC?? Hoping it can be adjusted instead of replaced.
