Looking at 2012-2013 Z3

New to forum, sorry if this is wrong place for this question. I'm selling my I/O looking at buying Z3. I live in Colorado and wondering if 343 motor is going to be enough at this altitude?? Will usually have 8-10 peeps on board (1/2 are kids or teens). Any thoughts? Can this be helped enough with an altitude prop or is that just salesman talk?

if you come across a 2012, make sure its got the 2nd gen hull. There were a few early 2012's that got out and could not surf to save their life. Hull was tweaked for later 12's and forward.

I would not pass on the right boat because it had the 343. The proper prop can and will help with high elevation performance. With that said, even with the motor upgrade, a loaded boat will exceed the limits of the factory prop anyway, so a prop upgrade is almost a given. HP and torque mean little if you cant hook up to the water.

Torque-wise, I think the 343 isn't that far off from the Indmar 400, so unless the motor has been abused and is showing some age, you'll probably be ok.

We surf at 5000' in Colorado (Jackson Reservoir), 4 adults/4 kids, Surf XL ballast 100% plus 500lb in weight plates. We're using the 2419 and get just a bit of cavitation pulling people up that goes away quickly, it doesn't hesitate.

A buddy of mine just bought a 2012 Z3, custom ballast bags and a suc gate and he’s got a surfing machine! I’m pretty sure base engine too.
