Does anyone have any thoughts on a 2007 RZ2 compared to the 22Ve? Pros/cons of the pickle fork or any other differences?

@sandm - I just saw your listing on onlyinboards.com The boat looks fantastic. Unfortunately, I think it's out of my price range at the moment.

From different stuff I have read on this forum, it sounds like the 22Ve and the RZ2 are the same boat below the waterline. The means that you should see the same performance out of either boat if this is true.

I believe the only difference is the pickle fork bow vs. the traditional bow. The RZ2 at some point did get an option to fill the walk through with a cooler w/cup holders. Not sure what year this started. The RZ2 bow, especially with the cooler or bow filler cushion would allow for more people or at lest to be more comfortable in the bow. Looking back, I wish we would have gotten a RZ2 over the 22Ve, simply because my wife prefers driving with that style bow (between our Z1, G23 and 22Ve, she has been most comfortable in the G23) because she knows where the edge of the boat is when coming around to pick up a rider. We both agree that the look of the traditional bow is better looking but we feel the pickle fork to be more functional, depending if you have alot of kids or adults. For us, the kids like to separate to the bow while the adults are in the back.

Another thing to consider is that the RZ2 is still a current boat. If you were to compare similar RZ2s against 22Ve's, I believe the RZ2 will bring a slightly higher price (at least I believe that is what we saw last year when shopping), not sure if this is due to the pickle fork or because of the model still being current.

Maybe someone with more specific knowledge will chime in.

rz2 and 22ve are the same wetted surface. only difference is the picklefork and on newer boats, the access to the storage cubby under the glovebox and the ability to spec twin 400lb sacs vs the ve's single 400lb.

kc- just finance it there's a small amount of wiggle room in the price to take care of some small issues to make the boat brand newish.

I will say if I had kids, the rz would be a better boat as there's more room in the bow. when I bought my ve, dealer had an rz on the lot. price for the rz compared to the ve was 15k more for similarly optioned boats. doubt that rz's are running that much more at the 5 year mark but who knows..

Do you guys see anything concerning with this one, or anything I need to ask about/test besides the SpeedSet? What in particular has been the problem that you have had with it?

            https://oklahomacity.craigslist.org/boa/6062360557.html

I texted about this one last week and never got a response so I assumed it was gone. I noticed last night that it was still listed so I tried again and got a response this time. No ballast system, but for the price I could afford to put one in myself.

It looks like a nice boat. Low hours and it looks like its been taken care of. My biggest dislike with these boats is the tower and bimini. It definitely shakes more than i would like, but its certainly not bad. And the bimini is just a stupid setup. Once you set it up a few times its not bad but the first time i set mine up there was alot of cursing involved. I think the Speedset thing isnt something that would turn me away from buying one of these. My speedset works pretty well now. When i first bought my boat i thought it "hunted" a bit to hold the right speed so i pulled my ECM and sent it to Marine Power for a reflash and that improved it. Its not as smooth as Perfect Pass was in my old boat but it works just fine. I've never had problems with the touch pad yet but if i do i'll probably make the switch to the Hydrophase unit.

cousin had one and iirc he bitched about the tower stability a few times. he had the marine power engine and it spent a lot of time over a couple years in the shop diagnosing and replacing many parts before it ran right. think it was finally an ecu replacement that ended up solving the issue but he lost 2 years of runtime.

interesting no guidepoles on the trailer.

That's a weird tailer. The boat sits really high on it and its got those fender gaurds. I guess that's kinda cool if you've ever parked your boat on the fender. And ya, no chicken sticks.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

So I got some more information on the trailer. This boat was on a lift in a slip its whole life until just recently. The trailer is from a 2003 22V that the owner sold without a trailer. He says the 2007 hull is exactly the same as the 2003. He sent a video showing how it is sitting on the trailer and it seems good to me. Is his statement about the hulls being the same from 2003 and 2007 correct? Any concerns that I should have?

To be sure, I would suggest sending an email to Tige direct and asking them. They are generally good about helping with things such as this.
                      info@tige.com

If may be worth contacting boatmate/phoenix/extreme/ram-lin trailers and see what it would cost for a trailer. This could then possibly be negotiated if the factory comes back and states the they do not recommend the trailer beings shared between a 2003 22V and a 2007 22Ve. Keep in mind that you are not only going from 2003-2007, but between models (granted they are very similar).

                      Good luck!

What is the "rider profile screen" that the '09 mentions? I have a loaded '09 and don't know of such a "feature".

I think what they mean is the "Memory Cruise" feature. I thought this was in the download section of TO, but I cannot find it again. When I was looking at buying our 2007 22Ve, I stumbled upon some information on the cruise control and one page was this (hopefully screen shot will show up OK)

                                OK, we do have that. But it's as you describe... just the ability to "name" specific cruise control speeds. To me, "rider profile screen" sounds a bit more grandiose than cruise control. {grin}
