I know it's a bit far away, but he is willing to meet in the middle. I talked to the guy a few times and almost pulled the trigger on it. He dropped the listed price $700 for me because he had not got it serviced for the season yet. That may still apply.

I took a quick peek. There are a couple of things that throw up a little bit of a concern for me.
1: The listing is out of TX, but the registration decals are CF (California) as is the information listed.
2: Is the grey color on the bottom part of the gel coat scheme or is it bottom paint? Bottom paint serves it purpose, but not common on boats like these. According to the add, it does state that it is part of the color scheme, but something I would inquire about.
3: Add states that it has 265 hours, but the hour meter pictured actually shows 26.4.

These are all very little things that to me would need to be verified.

Aside from that, it looks like a CLEAN boat and low hours for a boat of that era. Good price as well.

The bottom grey should be just the gel coat scheme from the factory. On those years you had the option of whatever color you wanted the hull of the boat. If you like the colors you should be good to go.

On the hour meter reading: My hour meter reset as well when I changed batteries. You can always confirm hours by hooking up diagnostics to the engine (I would do that to confirm for sure).

I'd just ask the owner why its registered in CA but shows that it is in Texas. Again, shouldn't be an issue as long as he has a title to sign over.

Thanks for the heads up on that one. I was actually able to go look at at 22ve and 24ve at lunch today, and am really leaning towards the 22 after seeing them side by side. I know there is more room in the 24, but I think I would be more comfortable handling the 22 and storage would be easier for me. Unfortunately, I just missed out on the 22 that I was looking at, so if anyone has any leads on those I would love to see them. The dealer that I was at thinks they may have a 2009 Wakesetter 23 LSV coming in soon, so I'll probably go take a look at that in person too since it will be there. I'm really leaning towards the Tige 22ve though. Thanks again for everyone's opinions.

2012 22ve will be for sale in 2 weeks once I get it back from green bay to slc utah. hit me up if you're interested... it'll be a good deal.
garage kept, only spent a total of 4 nights on the water. 125-ish hours and pretty loaded up with big stereo and regular side chpthrl ballast and pump upgrades.

I honestly think you should really give consideration to this boat. If you can work out a deal, you could cover the cost of having it delivered. I am in MN and purchased out 22Ve from TN. I found someone in the area that hauls RVs and waiting for them to have a haul that made sense for them to pick up my boat as a back haul. Although I am not a fan of the AlphaZ tower, it is a bit short, it is much more solid than the E Series towers before it. Trying to find a killer deal in your back yard may be tough, but if you are patient and willing to drive or have delivered, there are deals to be had. Also keep in mind that (from what I have read), the RZ2 is the same below the waterline as the 22Ve but give you the picklefork bow if you like it.

I asked him about the hour meter as I thought it was strange. I figured it has been reset. He was unaware of the hour meter issue and told me he would take the boat right in and get it checked. The then listed every trip they have taken the boat on. Only one week a year on an annual vacation they took. Just talking to him on the phone he seemed like a pretty good guy. They just moved from Cali to TX so that explains the plates.
I don't care either way, but if I go back to wanting a 24ve, it will be this one.

@chungh2o - that's the 22ve that I looked at today. I really want to buy it, but they already have a deal made with a lady that is supposed to be coming down from Missouri this weekend.

I have a 2006 24ve and its been a great boat. Buying a boat without ballast would be fine if you are willing to put the work in and money to plumb your own system. There are so many great build threads on here it will be easy for you. Chpthrl will be a great person to get in contact with if you end up with a boat without ballast. The only thing I don't like on my 24ve is the Tige SpeedSet, it works but can be tricky to get to catch at surf speeds. The wakeboard wake and surf wake behind a 24ve can be exceptional. If you are local to Kansas City I would be willing to help with ballast install if you need it. Good luck with your search!

This is a bit of a highjack as well, but may help kcfandjc as well. If there is a boat with Tige SpeedSet issues, one of the TO members created a new control panel for it. Here is the thread

Granted, this option may not give as fine of control as the Hydrophase RideSteady, it does provide a fix for less $$$. If a boat is found, test it and see if the Tige Speedset functions properly, if not, you can use it for a price negotiation and have a fix lined up. Truth be told, I ordered one of these before we even took delivery of our used boat, its part of our "service kit" for the boat. We don't need it...yet!
