Perfect Pass, Propeller, and back up 2100v

Wanted to see if I could get 3 questions/advice knocked out in 1 post. 2000 2100v.

I recieved my PP Stargazer GPS last Friday from skiertoskier. Initial install pretty straight forward but I've been having a horrible time getting the servo motor to take over. Skiertoskier support is nonexistant (long story, I will go local from here on instead of saving a few bucks) and Perfect Pass is super helpful but with my schedule its difficult to get the boat, myself, and them together at the same time.

I believe what I am missing is an additional return spring. The unit beeps, but never takes control. Servo phase test pass, auto tightening pass, however the servo linkage test does not pass. I will try to include photos on next post to show install. Servo motor on starboard side water hose, servo cable comes around front of engine (if you consider the motor being backwards) and connects to throttle bracket. Anyone have any pictures of the PP servo and motor set up in their 2100 v? PP said the Spring not necessary but obviously it is if the linkage test fails.

Also interested in swapping out prop. Boat is in shop, had some propeller damage. I wanted a little more shoot out the hole and when boat is loaded it's a little harder to get on plane. I want to also set up for surfing but want to be able to wakeboard as well. Wakemakers says I need the ACME 1433 but searched and havent seen anyone with that prop. I believe I have the Walter vdrive blue but I'll have to double check. 650 elevation, no ballast yet but will add some.

And last thing, this boat will only back up turning to the right. Doesn't matter if wheel is cranked left or right or straight, speed doesn't effect it either. What would cause this? Thanks!

      Welcome to in-board boat ownership

The 1433 is a good prop for the older V-drives with the gear reduction drive.

I dont think the return spring is needed with EFI motors, either.

When you say it doesnt take over, what does it do? One way to test it, is to make a power turn. boat will want to slow and PP will recover to set speed. Come out of the turn and the boat will want to speed up. PP will back off and boat slows to set speed.

Here is a pic of my 98 2200V perfect pass

For reverse, all you get is back and to the right. The good news is that it is consistent. With a little practice you can surgically place your boat anywhere you want. Just have to be patient and take drift, wind, current and rotational velocity into account.

For your prop....are you sure you have a reduction drive? I had a 515 (13x12) on mine and it was great at sea level. Moving to Colorado I had to reprop to a 911 (13x10). Got the hole shot back but lost a bit off the top end. Put an end to our barefooting.

Reproping to an Acme prop is one of the best things you can do

The return spring is to help return not engage. Does the throttle operate like it did before the PP install? Sounds like something is not letting/telling the servo to take over.

The throttle works just as it did prior to installing the PP. The cable is not obstructed by anything as you can see in the picture.

What will happen is I will get up to 20 mph (what it's set at), the wakeboard mode is highlighted and the boat will continue to gain speed. If I slowly back off the throttle it will go below 20. It will never hold at the set 20 mph, it just beeps every time it hits 20 and keeps going or will go below. I did a sharp turn and nothing. Servo motor does auto tighten. It also does the rotation test in settings... However there is no tension on on the cable... The string that's connected to the cable should always have tension and not be loose when the servo motor is moving correct?

Have you tried to contact Perfect Pass directly? I have always had good response from them in the past, although it has been a good while since I have tried to contact them.

                    Have you tried RPM mode?

I've been in touch with perfect pass but like I said it's very difficult to get them, myself and boat in same location.

I will try the rpm mode once the boat gets out of the shop. Perfect Pass is saying the throttle needs a return spring back to the idle position.

Attached are the photos of the vdrive. I believe I have the black velvet drive. Image1468939032.270041.jpgImage1468938988.630457.jpg
