    2006 Tige 22 Ve ???

    We are considering buying a 2006 Tige 22 Ve. We have located a low hour demo model out of our area for $14K less than our local dealer. We are willing to drive and get the boat but are unsure of what to expect from the local dealer as far as the maintenance work. Do local dealers take care of your boat if you have purchased from another dealer? Are Tige reliable?

    Our Tige has been very reliable, but there will always be little things that you will need your dealer for. I would try being honest with your local dealer. I am sure they would understand your wanting to save money on the used boat. Their goal should be to get you into a boat you can afford, give you good service, and hopefully get your future business.

      Where are you located? Dealers can be huge pricks to deal with if they feel you went out of their territory.

      We have 2 dealers close to us, we saved $12,000 driving a few hours. Same exact boat BTW.

        We are in the chicago milwaukee area. How can the prices vary so much? What do I do if they won't work with me? I told them the prices I could get other places & they wouldn't go down. We really want a tige but we need to have service. thanks for you help.

          Make sure when you are doing an apples to apples comparison that they are the same boat with the same options. Also did you ask the locale dealer if he could order you a boat in your price range. Dom@ Fortes Inboard Connection.

            You are not the first to find big variations in price. there was discussion on this some time ago. A few hrs for $14000 is well worth the ride. Others have done the same. Remember its your hard earned money.

              what do you really need a dealer for. go to you local marine service shops an oil change and winterization or learn how to do the basics yourself...there are lots of guys here who do and we are always willing to help. You can always go back to the dealer who hooked you up. you figure $14k - the cost of transport to selling should be worth it.
              -- besides a lot of your independents are quicker on service. they dont have the room or the time to waste and want to turn your boat and get to the next one....they arent making money from boat sales and pro shops. just my $.02

                This is a sticky situation. I can see your local dealer's point, but 14k is 14k. It is quite possible that the local guy won't be able to hit that price for you, but you should give him a shot. Get a list of options that are on the boat your looking at, and sit down and tell him that's what you want, can spend, and see what they come up with.

                Then if they can't meet your criteria, its hard to not buy elsewhere. I would make it clear to them that service is an issue that you would like for them to take care of. In my opinion, you won't get top level, middle of a Sunday afternoon service from them though. I think they have the right to reserve that treatment for the people who buy boats from them. But I would expect them to work on my boat..I mean you will be paying them for all non Waranty related service calls.

                If the guy is simply unwilling to help you out at all, then their not worthy of your time or money. Buy the boat you want, and have it serviced where you want. If warranty issues come up, consult with Tige directly.

                It is kind of like working in a Minefield sometimes, but I can assure you it happens with all boat dealer networks.

                  This is why boat dealer territorial restrictions should be negated. They only cause problems, and to tell you the truth we couldn't get service on our first boat from the guys we bought it from. I won't name the dealership, but a lot of you probably know from previous posts of mine.

                  Let the dealers compete, I think it would make every aspect of the dealership better. Service would be more on time, boat prices more competitive, and maybe the boat salesmen would be a little more customer friendly. I think as a whole the wakeboarding industy has poor customer service and poor follow up specifically from dealers.

                    You might want to check out the recent post on the classifieds, someone is selling their '06 22Ve w/real low hours. I think it's located in St.Louis MO. Just a heads up, might be worth lookin into.....

                      Yep, I can save you some $$$ on my '06 22ve. I can honestly say it is a very famous boat from the '06 lineup, but I can't tell you why it is famous. My dealer will do anything you need to accomodate any of your service concerns.

                        When we were unwilling to buy our 22Ve from the only Tige dealer in Ontario we went to Colorado to purchase and were very well looked after by the folks at Wakeboard & Waterski Specialty in Denver. We worked out an arrangement with WWS whereby our local marina in Canada does our warranty work, are reimbursed by WWS who then gets square with Tige. We also had to check with our marina to make sure they were OK with servicing a brand we didn't buy from them. Fortunately, we have a 30-year relationshiop with them and hope one day they can take on the Tige dealership here.

                        Kind of complicated, but without that assurance that we'd be able to get warranty service done with out a lot of hassle and cost to us, we would have been very hesitant. WWS bent over backwards to accommodate and address our concerns.

                        At the end of the day we saved a bunch of money, dealt with who we wanted and have been very happy. Its unfortunate though that we even have to worry about these issues...

                          new boat

                          The two dealers have talked and everything is good. We get our boat next week. We can't wait. How do you guy's feel about a weed strainer? Should we get one put in? thank's again.

                            I usually just smoke it straight...take the good with the bad.

                            I suppose it depends on how much weed you go through. I hardly see any here, so I did not even think of it.
