I bent one of my three fins on the bottom of my boat, does anyone know where i can get a replacement fin besides my tige dealer? or if anyone has a part number for them or manufacturer.
The fins on the bottom of the boat are made from a soft alloy....they will bend......and bend back. The key is to be gentle when bending them back. The fins are only there for tracking......your boat will pull in one direction or the other when you let go of the steering wheel (steering wheel will actually turn aggressively if fin is bent significantly) but vibration shouldn't be a significant issue. Loading the boat on your trailer could be a problem depending on your trailer. If the skags (guides) on your trailer are narrow in the middle a bend fin may actually break the skag....sucks..... Anyways, the fix: Tax a crescent wrench or channel locks and open them as wide as they will go. Put a towel between the wrench and the fin and gently bend the fin back into place. The fin shouldn't break if you are careful, but if it does you will be able to run the boat without a significant pull while waiting for another fin. I have bent mine twice and bend one back both times. My boat tracks perfectly. Good luck to you and hopefully you don't have to spend any money........do not, repeat do not, heat up the fin before bending it back!!!! Very bad.
