Have had our 01 21 V since 09. Just basic maintenance and a steering cable is all we have had to do. We added a Fresh air exhaust for surfing and it does a great job of bringing the engine noise down a couple of levels and getting the exhaust fumes way behind the surfer. We have the PHAT tower... not thrilled with it but haven't had any problems with it. Our Vinyl was in good shape until about 2 years ago when we had to start storing it outside (garaged or undercover for its whole life before that.) Have recently seen some gel coat cracks develop from the heat off any drilled holes like fuel inlet etc. The 350 mag MPI is a work horse we have 750+ hours on our and no signs of stopping. We have the blue v Drive and Walter tranny on ours so we upgraded to a 4 blade acme 1235 prop which doubled our hole shot power and damn near cut our fuel consumption in half... well worth the $600. Surf wave is Awesome with 1000# on the surf side and no bow wieght. Have all passengers sit in surf side rear corner. Wake boarding etc at TAPS 5 or add some bow ballast for a really aggressive poppy wake. I would definitely recommend a 21V
2001 Tige 21V Fresh Air Exhaust, ballast, loud stereo, blue v drive, ACME 1235 prop Kneeboarding, Surfing, and having fun!

That 1235 prop must be very close to hitting the hull. I have a 537 now and will be getting a 1617 in the next few weeks. So going from 13.5 to 14 seemed to be a lot. And you're at 14.5. Any issues with that?

Which prop is everyone running with the 383 black scorpion?

Engine aside, need to know what v-drive ratio, lake elevation and normal use. Do you slalom, board, surf, tube, have a 30 minute hi speed run across the lake to your riding spot?

How do I find out my ratio? My home lake is Mead at 1100. I often go to Mojave and havasu which are at 700 and 730 respectively. We board and surf rarely we pull tubes when young ones are on board. We do often travel far too our spot and sometimes up and down the Colorado river.

Vegas is 2000+, does it really drop a thousand feet out at the lake? Never realized this. Given that you sometimes have a long ride, id suggest a mild upgrade over an aggressive upgrade.

Is the v-drive blue or black?

That's what national park services had it listed at. It's black. Aggressive? As far as diameter or pitch?

My lakes are all high mountain lakes so they don't really compare to yours. I was just surprised by a 14.5" diameter prop. That should put it about a quarter inch from the hull. That seems to close to me. Maybe not? If it's not I wonder if a larger prop with same pitch as the 1617 would be better for me?

Ok, great. The black v-drive indicates its the 1:1 Walter drive. I would suggest the ACME 653

My local boat store just told me that the black vdrive is a PMC

Where they kind enough to tell you the ratio? Thats really all thats important here.

That shop I went to was full of clowns. I just looked through some paperwork and I have a Walter rV 26d. I can't find the ratio.

I am running the 1237 I believe. It is pretty awesome.... And I was dialed in with that when I was in Maryland before I knew how to wake surf but knew that it was on my "to-do" list... LoL... Really happy with it... Damn thing is close to the hull though for sure...

I also have a 4 blade stainless prop pre-dating the Acme props, I am still looking to upgrade eventually. There is a small high pitched whine some others have complained about, but I can't pinpoint the source and it goes away by adjusting the throttle slightly when it happens. I replaced the rubber water pump since it was disintegrated when I purchased the boat and immediately overheated. I recommend changing it and doing a tune up right away if you don't know the status. I also replaced the serpentine belt and keep the old as a spare. I have the weak and wobbly Metcraft tower, but as others said, I inspect it and ensure it is tight and I have no problems with it although it is on my list of things to replace. I replaced the Taps switch in the throttle since it was temperamental, the Taps hydraulic pump and Bennett tab O-rings in the pistons since water was intruding into the fluid of the Taps. I replaced my steering cable last year and re-upholstered the bottom seating area since they were all ripped around the seams. I love the boat, no real complaints. As others said, the Taps gives good flexibility with different types of water tow uses. We also added a bow cushion in the middle to make more of a platform, much more useable and enjoyable for our family. I added additional staineless steel pins on the swim deck, it moved a lot when in the water and was wearing out the pins that the deck slides on, this has resolved the slapping from waves and should stop the wear. I added a 12" sub and 4 6.5" tower speakers with three amps for plenty of power with dual batteries along with Bluetooth and aux in to the factory radio to retain the rear swim deck controls. The gas struts that hold the three doors open were completely failed and the doors fell with a lot of force, so I replaced all of them and now they work great, but it was challenging finding replacements with the right spec. I also added a built in smart charger with 110v receptacle with rubber seal for easily plugging in when not in the water. The boat is real spacious and I always get compliments on how nice it is, most don't know the age of it other than having a very unique looking tower (some say ugly and I tend to agree...) I have an Extreme trailer with disc brakes with breakaway tongue to fit in the garage. Once you get familiar with it, it is a beast of a boat and good value for the money.

On my list is adding XM radio and GPS and possibly upgrading the tower one day.
I am trying to replace the gas struts on the same boat. Which ones did you end up getting? I bought some suspas with 39lbs of force each and they do not hold the cargo doors open. They are 19” but how much force do I need?
