Hard steering to the left 2015 r20

I'm wondering if we aren't dealing with the same weight issue because of the vx... I'm going to throw in another 550 bag in the starboard side and probably fill it about half way and see if that helps. We are at 5 hours on ours, so we are still learning also. But we have surfed and loved the wave on starboard side of a 2013 r20 without the vx and multiple rzr's . So we know it's there, it's just finding it. In the mean time I'll keep updating on the steering issue as I find out more.

Sounds good. If I run into anything I'll do the same. I'm curious how the weight test goes as I've been planning on investing in the semi custom sacs. It would be great to see if that will solve the issue prior to pulling the trigger.

I will let you know this evening. My wife is headed back up from town, so I had her grab my extra ballasts out of our old boat so we can give it a try. We rarely ride with more than her and I and the kids, so we need to be able to surf without people as weight in the boat.

My boat did the same thing until I weighted the starboard side heavy. I have the W004 bags, 770 lbs bag and 250 hard tank and It drives like a dream. If you don't have it weighted enough you'll fight the steering all day.

Well I added about 250 ish pounds of extra ballast on the starboard side and was able to finally get a surfable wave with the vx. It was listed a fair amount, but not horrible. At least it works when it's just the wife and I and the little ones. I think a little more weight and it would be golden. We were at 10.6 taps at 4 to 5..... still no luck with the steering however. So I guess it's going into the shop as soon as I can get it in

No smoking guns found here. With the wheel all the way to the left the rudder was at about a perfect 45 degree angle. All the way to the right, probably about 40 degrees off center. I couldn't find any potential interference issues or something else that might be causing the problem. Almost seems like something might have come loose on the linkage to the rudder. Please let me know what you find out.

Well we pulled the boat off the lake today, and on the trailer I see it appears to have full range of motion on the rudder, however when our steering wheel is centered the rudder is not. It takes about 3/4 of a turn to center it up. I may be wrong, but to me this would seem like reason for loss in range of motion to get rudder in full lock to turn since the wheel is limited in rotations. I've got a water test appointment set up with my dealer for this evening, but may have to reschedule. I will keep you posted of my findings.

Have you guys played with TAPS settings when underway?

The steering wheel is usually set up to be centered at rest or centered underway. As the boat is moving through the water the torque of the prop is trying to make the boat rotate and you have to use a little steering to counter act this. My steering wheel is set up to be centered at rest but it takes about 1/4 turn to drive straight at cruising speed. If it's on the trailer and you can grab the rudder and pull it to turn left and right with the same force I bet it's not the rudder or steering wheel.

Yep, played with taps underway. My observation is that the boat steers and responds differently when going left versus right. Interesting about being centered up at rest versus underway. Mine is obviously set up to be centered at rest and seems to transfer decently to underway. Hearing the rudder not being centered with the wheel to me would have indicated that there was an adjustment problem either with the rack and pinion set up at the wheel or the linkage at the rudder. I would also agree that you would run out of motion with that set up as well. I'm not an expert or dug into how adjustments are done but it'll be interesting to hear what the dealer thinks and what corrects the problem. Glad to be learning from those who have been through the issues.

It's because of prop roatation. While inderway the wheel will never be completely straight because of what Ewok said. As far as surfing If your not listed enough goofy it's gonna give you the steering issue too. The stock 600 just isn't enough especially with the vx.

Try to speed up. 11 is the sweet spot for me goofy. I can't use much more taps than 2 but I don't have vx. You should have better taps range with vx.
