What am I missing -- high temps

I actually never did - however, I still believe mine was a grounding issue. After a few trips the guage starting working correctly and didn't give any more problems.

With the proper sender (Faria spec) I'm only about 10 degrees off from what the mechanical gauge says, which I am attributing to resistance at this point, I still need to run a new ground wire.
