    New to Me 09 Z1

Not a first time boat owner but a first time VDrive and a first time Tige owner.. Just looking for any advice from maintainence to updates to issues to weight. It will mostly be used for wakeboarding but i am very curious about surfing and hoping ill be able to at least get a decent beginner to intermediate wake out of it. It has factory ballast and i have plenty of fat sacks for weight. placement will be my big thing. most of the time i wont be running with a big crew just a few buddies so the sacks are going to be big for me.. I appreciate it guys.

Hey guys. Thank you for the compliments. Like I said if you have any feedback on things I need to look out for with these Tige Vdrives I would really appreciate hearing everything you have to say. I'm all about learning new things and have an open mind to any tips or anything you guys want to throw at me I appreciate it.

It likes a lot of weight in the bow and belly for wakeboarding. I dont go over 25% in the rear tanks as it is too hard to get the wake even on both side with a lot of weight in the rear tanks. As for surfing I go 100% in the front surf side, 50% in the front NON-surf side and 100% in the rear surfside; plus any human ballast you can put on surf side. You will notice the if you have your TAPS on 8 the wave is tall, but short. I like mine at 6 to give it some length. I run extra weight in the bow tho. As far as wake boarding, that is trial and error based on speed. Anything over 18 and the TAPS comes into play. If you have the TAPS at 6 and try to go 21 the boat will bounce so I run mine at 4 with all my weight in the bow and floorboard infront of the rear seat @ 21.8. The wake is really wide on these boats for wakeboarding so you may be able to run a little faster based on skill level. Sorry for any typos; just sharing my experiences.

How much extra weight are you running. im still a little unsure of how to operate the ballast system on my boat. i got a quick rundown but honestly i was having a hard time paying attention to the guy i bought it from because i was pretty excited to just get home and into my lake to play with it. i did get plenty of extra fat sacks. i have 4 - 400 pound sacks. this will honestly be my first time running any kind of ballasts in any boat. so that is all kind of new to me. I just did the best i could with my old boat which was an I/O with a tower on it.

So if there are any crash courses someone can give me on running the factory ballast thatd be pretty awesome. and as far as the fat sacks..since ill more than likely be running with a small crew, will putting the bags on the seats damage them or should i invest in some underseat bags. i can really only use starboard compartment by the engine because the port side has a 12" sub enclosure and batteries in it for the sound system.. <--which is super sick by the way..

Again i really appreciate all the compliments and help ive gotten so far.

Relocating that woofer to under the helm so its direct radiating into the cabin would be like doubling the power to it. Make some room for some serious ballast.

I would relocate it there but that is where my second subwoofer is located. It seems like you know your audio judging by your sig. is there anywere else you would recommend trying to relocate it to? i dont think it would really be that big of a deal for me to just pull my second one out. The system is already plenty powerful for my liking.

A 2nd woofer thats enclosed in an insulated non-vented locker, becomes a boat shaker, not a bass maker. Its hard to justify the battery juice to drive it and the space consumed.

next time i get it out ill unhook it and see what happens. i really appreciate that little bit of information. as i said in my other post. i am not a stereo guy at all. and id way rather have a more all around boat then one that might make a little more "noise"

I agree with cheap, I had a sub box mounted in a space under a seat, with no vent, was brutal until we cut a hole, and even then....

Who all adds extra ballast in fat sacks in the Z1s. Curious how much weight I can actually throw in these

representing NODAK :-) Im in bismarck, ride sakakawea and tschida most of the time.

for weight like some have said above all full surf side and between 20-25% opp side, plus I throw a fly high 750 on the rear corner surf side seat. I have 2 f150# fat bricks that go rear for regular and front for goofy. taps at 5-6 for reg and 7-8 for goofy. you'll notice that u can go alot more opp side weight for goofy than for regualr but the wake is a bit shorter on the goofy side because of prop rotation

by the way that color scheme is awesome being a hawkeye im real partial to the black and gold
