    Fake-a-Lake to DIY Flush

Hello everyone. Hope everyone had a great weekend!
Finally got the boat on the lake today - spent the last 2 days doing some overdue maintenance.
Replaced the impeller, steering cable, serpentine belt, fuel filter, and changed all the fluids.

I have a 2003 22v - and have been using the fake-a-lake (Plunger) for a while - today it finally broke. Which is fine - its always been in a bit of a PITA for me.
I decided to just make a flush kit.
I Looking at some pics that others have done - it seems simple enough.
Found a good video of one as well:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=040E...qiZgR9bNICC_-A

    So a few questions.
    1. I have seen a few images of these in this forum and others, and I have seen them on both sides of the V-Drive. Does it matter which side it goes on?
    2. After its installed - what is the order to turn things on?

    Thanks

Ummmm....do not believe everything you see on the Internet.

If I did this YouTube flush on my boat.....sure the boat would be cool in the driveway....but when I brought the boat to the lake....my impeller would be junk. Some raw water intake systems vary....but with the YouTube suggestion it would cook mine and many others out there.

Know your system.. The video may work for some and not for others.

Be smart....and don't use a flush system for your boat after the raw water impeller.

If the fake a lake plunger doesn't suit your needs....make sure to add a "garden hose" attachment in the raw water pickup hose before the impeller. And turn the water on before you start the engine.
    Bad decisions make good stories.

Here is a pic to describe more of what Im talking about....Looking at the pic - my water pickup mounted on the hull is on the left side, I assume the water flows thru that line, through the V-Drive - out of the vdrive - then into the impeller.
So, looking at this pic, should it be attached at point A or point B?
      Thanks

Nice pic and good explanation rob_and_trish! Couldn't have said it better myself! You will be so thankful after making the upgrade from the fake-a-lake crap...

Oh.. and mine is at point A... just cut the hose and put it in line.. then route the hose for your Perko flush system up to the top of the motor... Just make sure you get the right size Flush kit... I think mine was 1" or maybe a lil bigger..

If you were running in saltwater you would certainly want to be before the V drive so that this gets a good flushing too, though some will head backwards anyway I guess.

              Thanks for the info.
I was going to put a T in the line w/ a ball valve, and run a heavy duty hose and mount it to the back of the ski pole mount.
My other plan was to put a T w/ a hose to a ball valve and mount it to the ski pole, that way I could access it from the back cover vs having to pull the seat off.

Any issues w/ extra hose hanging off - and ending in the valve?
