Help - is my impeller shaft offset?

At the end of the season last year, my impeller went. I did not have any time to change it until now. Got everything off, pull out the old impeller, it was pretty much destroyed, just about all the fins were gone.
I went to install the new one and noticed that it sits kind of offset. Is this correct? Here is a pic to see what Im talking about. There seems like its offset - there is more room at the bottom than the top.
Im not sure if the shaft is bent, or thats the way it supposed to be.
Please tell me that is normal

If you pull the impeller out, do you have any play in the shaft?
My life's journey is not ending up looking pretty, its sliding in broadside, used up, worn out, screaming "What a Ride"

That's how mine looks. If look closely at the pic you'll notice the top half of the housing has slightly greater arc than bottom. I would recommend replacing that every 50hours. It's something that is cheap and relatively easy to change considering the cost of repairs if engine overheats.

That is how it creates suction. Yours is correct.

That's normal. The space between rubber vanes changes during revolution, thus suction is created!

Due to it being tight to one side the impellers are difficult to reinstall. I use hair conditioner to ease them in. Usually I take a pic, which you did obviously, so I bend the fins over the same way. The o-ring that goes around the outside easily jumps out of the groove of the housing when they are new so beware upon reassembly that you don't pinch it.

Impeller installation is one of those rare "other uses" for KY Jelly. Anything water soluble works... dishwashing detergent, spit, etc. Just don't use anything petroleum based.

Thanks all - used some dish soap and little elbow grease and got it in it.
