2012 Tige Z1 - Waterskiing ?? What is the wake like???

Looking at 2012 Tige Z1. An important part in this decision is the ability to waterski. It is noted, only on Tiges website that skiing is possible, but nothing supporting the wake and actual Skiiers who own and enjoy this boat. I have skiied a number of I/Os -Direct Drive and V Drives and lately a Malibu Wakeetter with Diamond Hull, which had a great wake for a Wakeboarding / surf boat. Please help.

I have never skied behind a z1. Behind our rz2 we would slalom ski but it was truly recreational. My wife liked 25 mph for slalom, but at that speed the wake was huge due to that being a prime wakeboarding speed. I skied at 35 and the wave was smaller but nothing like a direct drive. We were not out there to try and break any records but it was just fun with the family.

I have a 2014 Z1 and I do ski behind it. It is ski-able but is rampy. I ski at 32-35 mph. You need to be going at least those speeds for it be ski-able. If your into surfing/wake boarding but also like to ski it is a great boat.

Thanks! I ski at 33-34 and have lately been behind a Malibu VTX Diamon Hull, which is perfect. I assume that this boat will do well, just need more facts on it. Appreciate the support.

if you are comparing boats to the VTX you should look at the Tige RZR it will be more in line to the VTX from a size and weight perspective. Just my

In our v-drive we found that adding bow ballast and dialing in the TAPS allowed us to get a passably smooth ski wake. Nothing tournament quality, of course, but folks on our lake liked it. Doubt you'll ever get a top-quality ski (non)wake from a v-drive that's DESIGNED to make big wakes, though. Have to decide which is your primary sport and optimize for that at the expense of the others.
