    Help with Speed Set

I have a 2010 RZ2 and am wondering if any of you have ran into my problem I had last night. I started off the night with some good surfing, and slowish wakeboarding with the littles. When it was time for the big people to start the wakeboarding session, the RZ2 would only moderately speed up to approx. 3400 rpms and then set there like the speed set was still engaged. I went through the complete system and made sure everything was turned off. I then tried resetting the system, restarting the boat, and eventually disconnected the battery in hopes it would fix it. Nothing, it still would only go to 3400 rpm. If I took it out of gear, it would rev fast and high, and I even put it in reverse and it would go as high as I wanted.

When we were finally done for the night, I started moving towards the dock, emptying the ballast. We then thought, well lets just give it another shot. Magically it throttled all the way up. A little slow on the takeoff, but got up to speed.

I don't know if there is a good way to reset the system if it happens again, or if there was something wrong with it like (just spit balling) a hot gear box or some crazy thing like that and the computer knows to protect it? Have any of you ran into something like that?

I had the in floors full and then your sacks lower long area partially full. I'm not totally sure how much that would be, and we were draining on the way in when it started working correct again. Have you seen that before?

First thing I thought was the same as Chp. To much weight in the back and thats all it would pull with the boat unable to plane. Thats what it sounds like to me. Ran into this same thing last year on a RZ4 we were riding. 3 of us ran up to the bow and the boat planned off and gained speed. Chances are it was to much weight in the back, especially if you have the 343 with stock prop.

We also though about that and put people up front. It didn't speed up at all. When yours did that did the RPMs increase and the boat just not speed up do to weight? Or did the RPMs remain low even at WOT?

The RPM's will just sit there as there just isn't enough torque to overcome. Your basically out of power.

I'm not sure what was going on with it, but it seemed to "reset" itself. I took it back to the lake so I could document a little closer the parameters I was in when it was messing up. I started off empty and then filled all sacs up, which neither run did it slowly rev up and then stabilize at 3250-3500 RPMs again. I had about 500-750 more pounds in water ballast (depending on the weight of the people that was aboard previously) than the previous outing, so now I can confirm this engine/prop has plenty to get the RZ2 up to speed. It is weird, but reset. I still do not know what caused it nor know what to do if it happens again. I'm not sure what, if any, effect it will have but I'm updating the software (thanks Z1!) this weekend.
