Question for the previous 23v owners - Did you reinforce your engine compartment walls? The custom bag is pushing them into the engine area. I am thinking of some 1-1/2" aluminum angle across the top bolted with one bolt towards the bow and then tucked into the rear channel. Seems like it should be strong enough (provided the other walls can take it) and will be able to rotate out of the way if I need engine access. I will probably give it a go this weekend.

Tigeidaho- We will be on Cascade all day Sunday. May have a few boats in the group and will be using the beach South of the Gold Fork arm for the kids to hang out and play. Maybe our paths will cross. I am looking forward to a chance to try more weight and more configurations but am stoked with the wave I can get with under 2K of totally hidden ballast.

I didn't end up reinforcing our dividers but if we had kept the boat I would have done it. Your plan seems pretty sound to me.

We decided to wait until next weekend to come up for the day. Too much going on down here this weekend. I'll shoot you a pm and see if you guys are going to be around. Would love to meet up with some other boaters.

Is that the ariel tower? Also is it bolted down in the original mounting holes?

Yes... Aerial Airborne. Used the existing front holes with new rears as the spread on the new tower is 4" shorter. Will fill the holes and use Seadeck or something like that to make steps that cover the old holes. I have not had a chance to install the free can speakers (polk db651s) that came with the tower but they look nice enough and should serve my purpose. All in all pretty satisfied with the tower setup for the price.

I filled my old rear Metcraft holes with these.

They fit perfect, work perfect and look great. All I had to do was enlarge the holes from the tower mounts. It was the exact same spread for the cleats.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

Thanks Nickypoo! I had thought of installing a new pop up but the base of the new tower almost hits the first of the phillips screw holes from the old tower. The spread is perfect for the 4.5" cleat though! I think I would still be seeing that one screw hole towards the bow and it would bug me. It is a frequently used step in/out spot on my boat anyway so I am going to try that route. I will post up a pic when I get around to finishing it but the weather keeps telling me to just go surf instead

Figured I would follow up with a photo of what I did for the filled hole from the old tower. I got the material left over from an Axis A22 from a local shop. Works great so far.

Also for posterity: I installed my FAE this season and perhaps my experiences might help the next person. Initially I had the down pipe in a more vertical orientation but that yielded a Z dimension of about +3/4". I tried it like this and got spray shooting up from the center of the swim deck closest to the boat and a little on the wave. I then adjusted everything to get the minimum recommended 1-1/2" (which by the way is the highest I think I could get it) and got a LOT of spray on the wave and none from the swim deck by the boat. I figured I would need to install a flap (ala Duffy Mahoney) with the FAE so I gave that a go. No store near me had horse stall mats or anything near stiff enough in stock so I stopped by the local Cross Fit gym and they were nice enough to give me a scrap piece of flooring. The flooring is about 3/4" thick and pretty heavy. It sits about even with the transom in how far down it hangs and matches the angles of the transom where the lower corners are cut.

WOW is all I can say about the effect. No more spray, cleaner face than I had originally (I already thought it was fine pre FAE), and the whole crew felt the pocket gained length. I also now have the ability to use Taps into the top of the range without washing out the wave. So now I am curious about slightly extending the Taps plate down farther like Topaz Surfer and the Wake9 crew have done. Anyone else with the spray pockets tried this? Seems like a super easy thing to do. Surf, tinker, surf, tweak, surf, surf, surf

Sweet! I am a fan of Duffy's flap. I had the exact same impact of clean in all taps positions. I have not modified my plate.
