    new here v drive issue

bought a 97 tige pre2200 with a 2012 jasper motor in it that runs like a top. previous owner stated he felt a slight slip last time out so got an excellent deal on it. Upon inspecition of the velvet drive i noticed some trans oil in the bottom underneath near the right hand side looking from front and traced it to a leaking hose going into the velvet drive. i put teflon tape on it (not sure if a good idea) and rethread it tonight till tight. topped off with fluid and no more leaks so far that i can see. could this leak and loss of fluid be the cause of slippage? Oil was low with it just barely registering on stick. I may have made out well and will know for sure sunday when i put a load on it sunday for first time. just wanted to get some previous experiences and if this may be the cause.

Absolutely low fluid will cause clutch slippage. The Teflon tape will leak though. Use rector seal or another pipe dope that is compatible with petroleum products and only use it on the npt fitting side and not the flared fitting side.

perfect definitely eases my mind it was for sure a loose hose. Would anyone recommend a form of locktite instead of other seals to ensure it doesn't rattle loose again?

If it's on the flared side, no thread sealant, just tighten it down the best you can.
