    No thermostat?

Just wondering, would there be any harm in removing the thermostat (from fresh water system not raw water system) and running motor without it? If so, why?

Yes. I will assume you have a 6.0, see cooling mod by Dom w. Forte. Mpi fuel injection systems need correct temp readings to deliver optimum fuel delivery and spark. Cooling off with no thermostat will overfuel the engine, cause fuel dilution in the oil and excessive fuel consumption, among other things.

To add to boatwakes , engines are built to tolerances which are maintained when the engine is at operating temp , to cold and you get blow by etc , not good for the longevity of the engine

Cool (no pun intended) thanks. Also, I've seen conflicting thermostats in the PCM manual as far as temp goes. What temp is optimum? I've seen both 160 and 170...

LS motors (6.0) use 170 and older small blocks, non LS based blocks use 162 raw water and 170 closed loop.
