We have a 2000 2100v Limited with only 220 hours. This past weekend we smelled the dreaded gas fume smell. We didn't park it as soon as we should have but all OK. Lots of gas in the bilge. After much diagnosis it was clear that the gas was coming out of the tank (not a fuel line). A major PITA but I got the tank out (had to remove Walter v-drive and pylon frame, then slide it out the stern). It is a 38-gallon tank made of aluminum made by Florida Marine Tanks (FMT-38-TIGE, P/N 50561-01).
So, I am looking at replacement options. FMT is still around. They quoted $450 plus $200 for a Ceramkote anti-corrosion coating (which I would gladly pay for). That's not too bad but the 6-week lead-time (and they're down for vacation next week) is a real bummer.
I'm looking at Moeller plastic options also but I'm worried about fit / dimensions.
Please give me some advice on replacement fuel tanks for a 2000 2100v Limited
Thank you!
