Just replaced my stock steering cable with a new: Teleflex SSC15420 TFXtreme 20' Marine Rack Cable
Notice the C15 is the upgraded cable rather than the C13.
Installation was pretty straight forward:
I unbolted the steering cable from the steering wheel mount (under the dash). I then cut off that gear drive up front and pulled the cable out from the rear. The new cable went in from front to back through a little access panel (4"x4") you need to unscrew in the front storage area. I fished it back with some rope and pulled the new cable backwards to the engine. The new cable went along the side of the fuel tank like the old one.
Be sure to set the steering wheel and rudder straight the first time when bolting the steering cable tube to rear mount! Not doing this the first time will serisousy be a pain to redo.
Now i'm back to one finger steering! However, until I figure out why I get so much water in my bilge (prolly the surf sack or other ballast leaking) I know that water will accelerate the life span of this new cable.
