I think it'll do a little over 25 in 4th and the high gear range. I usually keep it in the low gear range, so I get about 20. I wouldn't want to go much faster...gets kinda squirrelly at that speed.

Whens the last time you saw a 3/4 ton look this good. Maybe if I were hauling a 30+ft baja or something over 6000 lbs I would consider but Theres just no need for all the extra bs if your just hauling a Tige to the lake and back.
22v Tige-4000lbs.
Tandem axle trailer-1500lbs.
50gal fuel-300lbs.
Gear (boards, cooler, ect.)- 300lbs.
6100lbs before you even put fuel and people in your truck. If your at your maximum capability, you are straining your equipment.
A deisel will easily pay for that extra 10k in fuel mileage, maintenance and longevity.

Just my 2cents
This will haul more...maybe not as fast, but it's got enough torque in low gear to snap its frame. Kinda looks like a Tonka toy I had when I was a kid
Originally posted by TITANAE Thats a great set up and all but if I wanted to go rving I would buy an RV.
RVs will only get you so far so fast. There's lots of long, steep hills and lots of deep, super soft sand here. While the RVers are running there RVs into the ground, creeping up these hills and the getting stuck in the sand, I'm rollin' through or up whatever, however fast I want.
Now, I was trying to be nice and not say anything about your "truck", but I gotta tell ya, I'm a slight bit offended. Are you seriously comparing your Avalanche to my Duramax? I can sum that up pretty quicky. You drive a show pony, I drive a Clydesdale.

I'm with you, way too much plastic on the outside that wanna be pickem-up truck, looks like something out of Star Wars. Typically GM engineers gone wild scenarios...same guys that probalby did the retractable rear roof on the SUV (so it becomes more like a pickup). Sorry, not dissing your Duramax, but I gotta wonder why GM does some of the things it does (for example, why a separate key for the door than the ignition). But hey, to each his own....
BTW, nice show of restraint...good for your blood pressure

It was? You should have read what I was going to post. Discretion is the better part of valor though, isn't it? I'm with you Dog, the plastic fantastic Avalanche has got to be one of the ugliest all time "trucks". GM does do some odd ball **** and the Avalanche is at the forefront. They did however hit one out the park when the designed the SierraHD/Duramax/Allison. IMHO of coarse.
Nobody is trying to compare anything but you buddy. If I wanted to compare I would bust out the 1 count it 1 full ton duramax with the alison trans but I wont because I DONT CARE. This thread was started with what should I tow my new boat with rover or silverado. You came here swinging from the Generals 3/4 ton nut sack about your truck. Yes they are better for towing and more HD than the silverado 1500 and the 1 ton is better than the 3/4 ton and the 2 ton is better than the 1 ton. You arent telling us anything we dont know. So until you have some useful information for us mount that 3/4 ton steed and jerk off to the sound of the duramax.

Holy **** dude, nice one! I asked for that, I know. It's all good. You did kind of get my panties in a bunch after you tooted your Avalanche horn and then out of fun I threw up a pic of my set up ON THE BEACH, not in a parking lot. That was the ONLY point I was making, beaches are nicer than parking lots any day. It was just a joke. Unfortunately, things like that don't transfer well to the internet. I then proceded to make everyone aware of the actual weight of these things once all is said and done and you're ready to go to the lake. You did however push it with the RV comment and everything went to hell. I lost my cool as did you. Please allow me to extend me sincerest appologies. I don't want to fight you man, we're both GM driving Tige owners. That makes you OK in my book. Whata ya say, beers on me?
PS- From 0 - 70mph up a 15% grade with the camper and the boat does give me an immense hard on.
