    Starter Replacement '03 22v

    Hello all,
The starter is starting to go on my 03 - 22v. I think I can just replace the solenoid. Now this is going to sound stupid...but I have changed a started b4 in a car, but I cannot for the life of me find where this thing is on the motor.....I have a Mercruiser MAG 350 - MPI.
Im currently just looking in the engine bay - I have a feeling the bugger is tucked way below and I need to remove the side panels to get to it.
    Any help would be great.

    Thanks

If it's block mounted like a car, on your boat it will be port side underneath the exhaust manifold bolted underneath to the rear of the engine block. If it's rear mounted, it will be above the transmission sticking out of the back of the engine.
Fixing everyone elses boat just so I can use mine...

Thanks for the info guys. Any reason I can't just take it to someplace like autozone and just do a core swap?

You need a marine starter, not a car starter. They are still pretty cheap ~$100.

Marine starters are sealed to prevent them from igniting any fuel vapors that might collect in the engine compartment. Automotive starters are not sealed. The brushes on the motor and the solenoid all create sparks and need to be kept separate from fuel vapor.
