    2001 21v bad problem

This is a hard problem to locate. This is what happens. The boat will run great for 2 -3 hours and then when the boat heats up the engine begins to drop rpms and backfire and then kill. The engine temp. does not rise. If you let the boat sit for 30 minutes it will run again for an hour or so. I have heard that there is a computer with heat coil on it that is mounted next to the engine and on newer models is mounted away from the engine. I do not know if this is the problem. I replaced the spark plugs and the distributor cap and i also replaced the ignition coil. It only does this when its on a warmer day and it is run for a long time. It is very hard to tell what the problem is. the boat sat up for about 2 years and now that it is being run again we have run into many electrical problems. This one seems to be close to impossible to troubleshoot. If anyone has heard of a problem like this or has any suggestions please let me know

Sounds more like a fuel problem. Have you changed the fuel filters, filled the tank with high octane gas, checked the fuel pressure?

I remember quite a few threads with similar problems. Some had kinked hoses, bad gas, debris in gas tank, bad distributer pick up and a loose alternator wire. I did a search on "vapor lock." Try reading these previous threads, they might help.
