Hello all, i've been boat shopping for a while and have come across a 2007 RZ2 that i'm going to check out. I've been trying to do some research but searching for RZ2 on here gets me nothing. I have found a few things about vinyl issues, but other than that i cant find alot of bad things. I was all set to buy an 06 Avalanche and came across this RZ2 so before i buy the Avy i wanted to at least check it out. Its 7k more money but i do think its a much nicer boat, although i've only seen pics so far. The RZ2 has 300 hours, the z series tower (I think), and seems to be pretty loaded with all the options. Any help on what to look for? And unfortunately a water test wont happen, we still have a lot of ice on our lakes. Thanks.

Welcome to the site! I have owned my '07 RZ2 since new and it has had very few issues. Some that may crop up:- Worn "shiny" vinyl areas
- Steering Cable - fairly inexpensive fix
- Board rack bungees
- Extra large swim platform puts a cosmetic blemish in the wave
That's all that I can think of that is unique to this boat, check it out like you would any other wakeboard boat though. The Marine Power 340hp engine is a pretty solid piece and not too many known issues on that. If it has a ballast system (wasn't pushed hard back then), make sure all of the pumps work.
Good luck with the RZ2!

Thanks Timmy, the seller says it has the ballast system and everything works. He said that the pumps have failed a few times so he carries a spare with at all times. I used the advanced search and managed to find some more info but most of its pretty old. In this year of RZ2 is the rear ballast under the floor or are they above the floor hard tanks? And is the vinyl issues really that bad on these? I was thinking if its still holding up ok it may be one that didnt have issues?
As for the surf and wakeboard wake, how is it going to compare to the Avalanche i was looking at? A avy was on my list because its known as a boat that does pretty good for both.

I had a 2007 22VE[same hull] . I put 425 hours on the motor with no issues. I sold it to a friend of mine and he now has over 600 hours on it. The only vinyl issues he's had is a couple of the rear seat cushions have threads separating on them. It was usually me and the wife and a few guests. He has two girls a small dog and lots of friends and family out often. So i think how much traffic you have in and on your vinyl does take a toll. I sold it to get a boat with factory ballast and i loved the Alpha Z tower and the graphics on my 2011 RZ2. Both boats make similar Wakes and waves. The RZ2 is slightly larger with the same ballast because it's heavier. You will like the RZ2 it's a versatile boat that gets superior fuel economy for a wake boat.I do all my own stunt work. hey ya'll watch dis.

I agree with Robert. The amount of traffic and care taken makes the difference. My vinyl is in excellent shape but I can see on the shiny vinyl that it will need some work done to it in the next year or two. I have right at 400 hours on mine. Also, don't be scared by the hours, some would think 300 is a lot but it's not at all. It just means that the boat was actually used and enjoyed.
As for the Surf wave, it's one of the best out there IMO. Chpthril on here can get you some custom surf sacs and the RZ2 will throw out an awesome wave. Tige's have a little mellower ramp than some other's for wakeboarding but they still put out a decent wakeboarding wake. Maybe Robert can post a few of his thousands of wakeboarding wake pictures that he has.

I sold my loaded 2007 RZ2 with 600 hours for $43,000.00. I had no issues at all with my boat other than some of my vinyl tearing at the rear bench seams. They tore around 300 hours but overall it was solid and reliable.Last edited by Matt Garcia; 03-08-2014, 03:03 PM.

Checked it out today. Spent 2 hours going over everything with the owner. Looks great for the most part, just a few small things that need attention.
The seats were all good except a few places where it looks like the stitching is starting to stretch. Its only in places where the front bolster meets the main seat area. I think it would last a while yet but it will need to be dealt with eventually. Tige definitely cheaped out on the vinyl in a few places. The steering feels really stiff so i assume it needs a new steering cable. No idea how big a job that is. Also it has the E-series tower not the Z and one of the uprights has a small piece of powdercoating starting to flake off. There are some scuffs on the underside of the boat where it goes on the bunks but they would be easily buffed out. Nothing too major, but i havent bought the boat yet. The boat sits of a covered lift most of the summer so the trailer looks like new. He wants 40k for it which seems ok considering i'm in Canada but i need to do some more research before i give him a definite yes. Thanks for the help guys.
