    Back to the ASR...

Doesn't it seem like the swim step is really low?

Why hasn't there been any pictures of it in the water yet? What is Tige' waiting for?

Yes Malibu is totally blowing it by building axis. Seen market share lately???? Thought so! Your "buddy" the dealer is an idiot for saying that. But then again don't we all have "buddies" who are dealers? 80 grand for a a24? That's not a buddy. I was quoted 72k for one with decent upgrades.

We have been seriously considering a new boat and I will be honest Axis is the front runner. I love the Tige brand but the dealer network sucks, here. I will not buy a boat from our local Tige dealer. I have yet to hear anybody rave about their experience there. We compared the A22 to the RZ2 and yes the tige is definitely nicer but it's also a lot more money. Compared to our 12 yo boat, everything made today is plush and nice. My cousin bought a 22ve last year and it is a sweet boat. My brother bought a z1 this year and it's amazing. Unfortunately, we can't afford to spend that kind of money and aren't willing to drop to a 20' boat. IMHO I didn't feel like we were in a cheap boat, on the Axis. Then again maybe I am just an idiot who doesn't know crap about boats?

I know of a handful of guys that truly love boats, regardless of brands. Crap look at people's sigs here. There are a lot of guys that are here sharing knowledge while owning one of the BAD three. It's about the person behind the wheel, not the boat under it.

By the way that ASR is BADASS but as sandm said, nice to dream about things we will never own.
I don't love all boats, don't put words in my mouth. Don't call someone you don't know an idiot either, it's bad form. I test drove them because I was invited to drive them and give my criticisms between the two, because my "buddy" doesn't run and cry to his mommy when I share my criticisms of the boats he sells. Wise business men receive criticism and turn around and make a better product.

Isn't that exactly what Tige did with the ASR? Customer feedback created that monster!

I have an opinion that you might not like, bus it's an objective, thought out one. Not a "dude, Axis blows!" Type of unsubstantiated comment.

Get over it, move on. It's ok to disagree, it's called a discussion.

Saw it driving around in the Sparks marina today. Looks like a G23 to me. Sorry....

Kinda bummed at Tige. Still like the RZ better.

Maybe get a better look tommarrow at the My Wake event..
I'm on a boat man. I got my flippy floppies....

tyrell isn't that bad, just very slow to return calls and take care of issues. pricewise, I felt good about the sale and I believe your bro got treated well. one piece of advice.. DON'T buy anything sitting on a metalcraft trailer. they are crap crap crap..
now onto the axis. I know you have a hookup on that brand from the sales standpoint and their service department at IWS is outstanding, but possibly look long and hard for a tige leftover out of state? personal opinion, quality is better in the tige, it's going to surf much better but you will lose a little on the wakeboard side and pricewise, my 22ve was within 2k of the axis a22 price I was quoted. bet you could find a leftover or lowhour z1 for the same $$ as the a22.
good luck on the shopping and if you change, be sure and send pics

now back ot.. pics of ragboy standing next to that thing.. it's stupidbig it does look like a g23 to me, but similarities in a suburban/expedition from 100yards are the same thing imo. kudos for building it, got tons of hype, and as mentioned somewhere, hope they are rushing a 21ft version to market quickly to beat the g21 we keep hearing about. not sure on the name tho.

Well...I was told there would be no math!!....that would also explain the gas mileage!!!!

                Thanks for the clarification.

Still waiting to see the overall dimensions on the ASR? Height and length on trailer with tower down. Just finished opening my 7x16 shop door to a 8x16... Would hate it if it won't clear a 8' door!!!

They are towing the Tige My Wake event this weekend. Hopefully we will get some detailed pictures of the boat in the water and the wakes.

Having owned an RZ2, and now with a G23, this boat looks like a 98% knock-off of the G series boats. Honestly, when I look at this, it's kind of sad. I think of what Hyundai does with their designs and "borrows inspiration" (*ahem*) from companies like Mercedes. And after owning both Tige and Nautique, I think this is a fair comparison. In my opinion, Tige needs to focus their efforts on improving build quality, if they are going into the $100k+ price area.

After seeing a pic of the boat idling in the water, the platform looks to be right at the water level. But dont know the amount of ballast, if any.

While I agree that they are very similar in size and appearance, they should since they are attempting to accomplish the same task, as did the Momba Mojo, which was released before the G23:

There are only a few ways to make a 23' boat big enough to handle the ballast to make a huge wake. Boat trends have seen an evolution of the open bow concept to increase seating, and then the pickle forks to widen the bow to add more seating, and the blunt nose to get rid of wasted fiberglass in pickle forks to maximize the bow area (and the ability to add ballast under the seats in the bow as well). Tige also led/followed trends to bigger boats with higher freeboard in the Z3, which has a much higher freeboard than the RZ series. But trying to get the biggest bow and interior room and high freeboard leads a boat designer to that basic blunt nose shape and high freeboard as the Mojo, G23 and now the ASR.

If you look at any other industry you will see companies developing products that look similar, especially in the aircraft industry. First generation airliners were limited on the engines at the time so the fuselage could only be so big. When engine design caught up the widebody jet was created to efficiently carry more passengers. The wide body's of Boeing and Airbus look very similar to the untrained eye.

My point is, yes they look very similar, they are made to accomplish the same goals. If there was any direct copying I'm sure nautique will take appropriate legal action if it is warranted, but I don't think that's going to happen, I've been on a G23 and I see enough differences.

I hope Tige does not charge as much for one as Nautique, based on Tige's traditional place in the market is should be 15-20G's less, but if they do, I agree they better match up perfectly even on the fit and finish and quality control. If they don't they will take a well deserved beating on all the forums.
