This boat is a foot shorter that a 24 and weighs over 1000lbs more? What is making it so much heavier. At 5400 lbs ( I assume dry weight) its going to be about 6500 lbs with 60 gallons of fuel, tower, speakers and engine size, boards, toys etc etc. This will require a heavier duty trailer probably in the area of 1500lbs. So looks like total is close to 8000 lbs. Need to look at your tow vehicle and the ball and hitch to pull 8000lbs. You can get a 2in ball rated for 8000lbs.

I think your 8,000 lb estimate is pretty close gman! I bet a lot of folks will go with a triple-axle for that beast and will be over 8,000 lbs. That's a lot of weight if you are towing it long distances or frequently! Make sure you have a newer 1/2 ton if that's your truck of choice, those older ones weren't designed for towing that much.

My 2008 Crew Cab Silverado with flex fuel package and 4 speed auto trans only has a rating of 6,000 lbs. The 2002 22i that I tow with everything and trailer is over that. Also that rating of 6,000 lbs. is with driver only.
Just food for thought when buying a new boat.

We haul grain and get paid by the bushel, so we want the truck as light as possible.
The truck I drive weighs about 27K with only one tank full and an aluminum trailer. With a harvest permit we can "legally" gross 84K. So the load we haul (57k) is just over double the weight of the truck/trailer combination.

I test drove an Axis A24 with surf gate and a 2014 23LSV two weeks ago. The wakeboard wakes were stellar in both boats but the surf waves looked shallow and had no height. The boat drives sideways when the drag fins are deployed and they drive like tanks(fuel economy has to suffer) The axis seemed underpowered even with the 409 and the 23LSV took way to long to get on plane.
However I didn't surf them so I can't comment on the quality of the waves.
IMHO: I think surf gate is lame, who cares about switching sides! I don't mind draining and filling ballast for a whole 5 min! Especially to have a better wave on either side.
My point is I think the ASR will be a real contender. My wife and thought the wakesetter looks and feels like a bass boat,. ( do you get advertising kickbacks from Malibu for displaying WAKESETTER across the entire hull?) Your just paying for a name. The Axis is straight up cheap. (Especially for 80k) The vinyl and interior design of the Tige is IMO is higher quality and style. I could go on and on about why We chose a Tige, but you already know why.
I think the ASR is well thought out. Form follows function. I like the fact this boat isn't plastered with gimmicky tech all over the place with a bunch of crap I don't need that doesn't improve the quality of my boating experience. I think it's well worth the money to get performance over unnecessary creature comforts.
Ps: anyone want to buy my 13' Z1?

I hear you man, I want to like the Axis too, they look really cool, but looks aren't everything.
I understand the target market for Axis and they are trying to be "economical" but for 80k plus TTL? Not very pocket book friendly. Im friends with the local owner of the Malibu dealer here and he thinks Malibu is shooting themselves in the foot with Axis. I am just echoing what I heard from him.
sorry, Back to the ASR:

We have been seriously considering a new boat and I will be honest Axis is the front runner. I love the Tige brand but the dealer network sucks, here. I will not buy a boat from our local Tige dealer. I have yet to hear anybody rave about their experience there. We compared the A22 to the RZ2 and yes the tige is definitely nicer but it's also a lot more money. Compared to our 12 yo boat, everything made today is plush and nice. My cousin bought a 22ve last year and it is a sweet boat. My brother bought a z1 this year and it's amazing. Unfortunately, we can't afford to spend that kind of money and aren't willing to drop to a 20' boat. IMHO I didn't feel like we were in a cheap boat, on the Axis. Then again maybe I am just an idiot who doesn't know crap about boats?
I know of a handful of guys that truly love boats, regardless of brands. Crap look at people's sigs here. There are a lot of guys that are here sharing knowledge while owning one of the BAD three. It's about the person behind the wheel, not the boat under it.
By the way that ASR is BADASS but as sandm said, nice to dream about things we will never own.

I bet that weight figure from Tige is with a full gas tank.
Anyone interested in seeing how much weight their you're rig can handle should just go to your respective forums and find the the towing and hauling section for real world results, because we know manufacturer claims are just that, claims.
We could start a whole other thread titled, "can my truck tow the ASR?"
Does anyone know if that 550 supercharged caddy engine will last long? Supercharged car engines create so much heat and if it's not intercooled i would say that thing would be toast pretty quick. Also because the power curve is linear with a supercharger, all the real power is at the top end, worthless for a boat engine when the engine is never revving that high for surfing or wake boarding, our pulling out of the hole. Just my two cents.
