Upgrade to Newer Boat Help and Advice

My buddy and I are looking to upgrade from our current boat (2003 23V) to something newer within the next year or two. Other than it's a little dated we really like the size and layout of ours now but we are looking for something newer with built in ballasts and perfect pass. Our main goal is surfing. The only problem is, we're wanting to keep it around the 40k mark. We really like the RZ2 and it's style but I don't know if we'll ever find it in our price range. We'd like to stick with Tige but aren't oppose to another brand.

Perfect pass
built in ballasts
22' or larger

Plumbed in ballast or "built in" as in below the floor? The break point is going to be the 08-09 model year for the 21ft and larger v-drive boats.

If you want to surf and are looking at an 08 or older, I would look for one that does NOT have the factory ballast, which is aft hard tanks. For the 09 and newer, the factory ballast is not a bad option, but you will want to add additional aft weight on the surf side. The base level will be below-floor hard tanks in the rear and boxed in bow sac(s). 2010 and newer may also have a surf/pro level option with is the addition of a soft sac on top of the hard tank in the rear lockers. Again, most peeps swap these for larger sacs.

It could be either the sacs or hard tanks. We'd just like to be able to flip a switch instead of filling the sacs individually.

Also, i've been researching the RZR a little and it seems like a small boat but still seats as many as ours does now. Is this a pretty roomy boat? We have a lot of crap on our boat now but we still don't fill the storage up. Do you think a smaller boat with a open layout like the RZR could also be an option for us? Or is it going to produce a much smaller wake?
