    2003 - 22v - 1 beep every minute

    Hello all,
I was wondering if someone could help me out diagnosing an issue I'm having. We were out on the lake, did some wakeboarding for about an hour, then got caught in a major storm. We saw it coming, looking on the radar we knew it would only last about a 1/2 hr, so we hunkered down in a cove and just rode it out w/ a few other boats. After it passed we did some more boarding, Id say about 45 mins or so. During one of the last rides, we got a 1 beep alarm, at first we thought it was the Perfect pass, did not hear it again for a bit, then it happened again, we slowed down to idle speed, and it kept going off just about once per minute. We turned the boat off, and it would not start again. I popped the back deck just to make sure noting was out of the ordinary was going on. There was no water or anything in bildge, we tried to start it again after about 10 mins and it started, we got the alarm 2 more time, and decided to head back to the dock.
Where it started to pour again!

I called my boat guy, but he can't fit me in for 2 weeks. He said that it sounded like the IAC was bad, but could not be 100% sure w/out hooking it up to the computer. I did some searching on here and could not find anything on how to change the IAC, nor the part number.

I have an '03 22v riders edition w/ the Mercruiser 350 MAG MPI.

    A few questions,
    1. Does this sound like a reasonable assessment of how to fix this problem?
    2. How hard is it to change this part out.
    3. What is the part number I should be looking for?

I also read on another board that the IAC for this motor is the same that Ford used in their 2002 Winstar. Does anyone know if this is the case? B/c that part is $55 at the local auto parts store.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Yes most likely IAC, VERY easy to change, you should hook up to the computer to verify. I've seen fuel pump relays, water pressure sensors and a few other misc sensors set off that 1 beep every minute. Use your serial number and look through the schematics at perfprotec.com to find the Idle Air Control valve. It's located on the intake manifold, usually at or near the throttle body depending on the serial. If it is the separate stand off block mounted unit, be sure to get the gasket for it too as it usually tears apart when you remove it and the box does not contain a new one. Again, VERY EASY to change.

Thanks for the info. The site is http://www.perfprotech.com/
Now that I know what it is, Ill pull if off today.
Any difference between a marine IAC and one for a car? Im curious if I pull it off, if the autoparts store would be able to match it.

      Thanks again for the response.

To be honest, I've never even tried to cross the two but I don't believe it's possible. Let us know what you find out.

First - Tnx to boatwakes for the perfprotech website.
So after some research - Here is what I found out about the IAC for my boat.

The IAC is part number #862998.

Some quick google searches showed that part is the same as used on the Ford Windstar and Lincoln LS :

STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS Part # AC423

A quick trip to O'Reilly's auto parts, 45$ and out the door. Of course I realized when I got home that I forgot to grab the gasket

Also verified its the same part here :
          http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/rafr...&parttype=6072

So you can save $50 and grab it from your local autoparts store or Amazon or whereever.
