Engine Quit

Hi All, We had our 'new' '04 24v out yesterday for the Fourth. It has MP 6.0. Filled up in the morning and only had a couple hours running time for the day. Watched fireworks and on our way back (20min run) ran great. Slowed throttle as we got close and the engine began to run rough rough, sputtered and then quit. Started again with some sputtering, full throttle, but just limped for a little while, then died. Fortunately Seattle marine patrol boat was close and towed us the final 1/2 mile to the slip.

Any thoughts possible causes, and where to start?

So root cause was a blown ignition fuse, cut power to the fuel pump. Simple fix, wish we had kept spare fuses on board.
