I was finally convinced by my neighbor to try wake surfing behind my boat last weekend. On the 3rd attempt I was up and surfing. I think I'm hooked now. My question is about my stock ballast system. I've got ballasts in each rear locker and front areas. The fronts aren't that big. Does anyone know how big each one is? Is there a direct replacement for the front port side ballast? Thanks.

Contact Chpthril here. He owns/ operates Makes Liquid Audio. He also does a lot of ballast systems. A lot of use himfor all our ballast needs. Very knowledgeable, very helpful.

The good news is, with the right ballast set up, you could be spoiled by one of the nicest surf wakes around. That boat surf very, very well. Thete ate a couple other things you should consider doing along with your new ballast. First would be an FAE. An absolute must. Just get one and forget about. Next would be cutting the platform down. Not hard, not a big deal, great results in wake performance. Lastly, mud flap. This would be mostly for the FAE but, I think they are beneficial beyond knocking down FAE spray.
You can search any of those items on here and have plenty to read up on.You'll get your chance, smart guy.

They might be the same size front tank as my 2004 24V had. According to the link below, its about 125lbs for the front tanks. That sounds about right as they were about the same as a fat brick that I have thats 150lbs.

I took out the factory tanks and put sacs in my 24V. It is amazing how much space you save.
Mike (Chpthril on here, Mikesliquidaudio), hooked me up with sacs for the compartments and basically redesigned my ballast system.
I can't say enough good things about Mike and his ballast help and customer service. Good prices too!
We took out the tanks from the midship lockers and replaced it with sacs under the bow seats. You pic up alot of usable storage space in those compartments. I also find that I would rather have more storage midship than in the bow under the seats.
I am sure you will get some great advice on ballast for the 22V. Its a GREAT surfing boat. Topazsurfer's picture of his wave are unbelievable.
Check out his wave in his longboard thread.

EDIT - Just saw Nickypoo's post. AGREE 100% call Mike. One of best things I did after buying my boat was call Mike to help with my ballast.Last edited by Stingreye; 06-28-2013, 03:10 PM.Mods: MLA BIG Ballast System (1800+ Custom sacs, 2 500 W705 sacs under bow), Duffy Surf Flap Mod, Trimmed Swim Deck, Top-Mount Starter
