Got a new Tige, have some ?'s

I am new to this site/forum, the guys over at wakeworld suggested coming over here to get some answers. Just purchased a '01 23v. It needs some love but I needed a little project. I wasn't paying attention when the dealer was going over where the taps control lever is....where is it? Also what ballast set up are you you guys using for surf and wakeboarding? It sounds like I probably going to need to get the spray pockets filled....is this true? Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the site. Post up some pics.

Don't be so afraid of the spray pockets. They're not going to ruin anything. If you can't go out and throw down because of a little wash well, maybe you shouldn't be out there at all. Know what I mean? The good news is the wakes can be tuned to minimize it. I'm not exactly sure on the weight distribution for that particular boat but, you will want plenty of front ballast. Most of us here use Miles Liquid Audio for all of our ballast projects. He got the goods and the service to back it up. His screen name is Chpthril. Give him a call. http://www.mikesliquidaudio.com/

Personally, I'm very fond of the 23v. I'd love to get one for a project. There's a ton of things you can do to make it a bitchin boat.

Here is a video in a 2100v pretty much the same boat as yours just smaller. We have the spray pockets. Here is a video.
        https://vimeo.com/61238777

The boat has 750 pounds in the bow, 250 pounds in each rear compartment, and a 400 pound laying infront of the back seats. We found this setup to be perfect for our boat. Anymore rear weight, we get BAD wake wash. Like how normal boats are at 19-20 mph with all wash, we would still have at 24 mph.

We don't surf but when we did, we ran the same weight as wakeboarding except dragged both 250lb bags into the same locker then put the 400lb bag on the same side. It put out a pretty respectable wave at 11mph.

Here is a exterior pic. It is overall in decent shape, the seat cushions need replaced, they said the taps works on and off again?. This is the first boat I have purshased w/out a water test.....I bought it from the dealer the only owner had it serviced so I felt pretty comfortable.

Hard to see from that pic but, it should be a little thumb switch right on the knob.

Talked to the dealer apparently there is a toggle switch that controls it. Its not working .....any suggestions on where to start. Is there a pump for the taps system that moves the plate?

I.m not sure when they made the change, but the earlier years were hydrailc and had a pump located behind the observers seat under a carpeted box. The newer ones are electric.

It almost sounds like yours might have been added after it was built. Not sure where your pump is going to be located but, mine is in the compartment under the helm. They also locate them at the transom. If you have a wall covering your transom in the lockers and there is a little door in it, the pump might be back there.

You can always follow the wires from the switch.

Looks like you bought it from Northwest Marine? John is a great guy and should be able to help you out with all that stuff. What area are you in? I am on Lake Tapps all the time and can bring some sacs along and help you play with setup if you want.

Welcome aboard. The wife and I picked up a 2000 2300V at the end of last summer. Glad to see another oldie on here too! We have the spray pockets and at the moment they don't seem to be a problem. though we have never been behind one without them...

I did buy it from northwest, it was on consignment from a guy who had it on tapps. Jon seems like a real nice guy. I am over in the edgewood/milton area. We usually go to washington, american or mason lk. I go up and ride watcom too in bellingham, I got a cousin there. I might take you up on the dialing in.....I need to head over to tapps more its really close. Is there a launch close to Northwest marine? I have been to allen york, but wasnt sure if there was one closer.

I just noticed in your picture, you have the same tower as we do. The only problem we found with it is that the board holders are not wide enough for our wake surf boards... I believe the company that makes them is here in the Northwest I was told.
