    rz2 opinions

im currently an owner of a 2008 mastercraft x1. im looking into a 2010 rz2 because of reviews ive seen on the surf wake it makes. i was wanting to get some honest opinions on this boat from current owners?

how does the wake look for wakeboarding? are there any known problems from this boat or are they a pretty comparable boat to a mastercraft as far as build, fit, etc?

    thanks in advance

My fiancé and I bought a 2012 RZ2 after demoing it, an x25, and VLX. I spent the last 2 summers leading up to this one ridi behind an Axis A22 with 3650lbs of ballast and the original X Star with around 2k in it which should be the same hull as your X1. I like the RZ2 wake better than either of them. It is almost effortless to ride and is so much fun! I have the pro ballast set up so 2k. Wake is a monster if you fill it all the way up.

I will say this out of the 3 boats we demoed the build quality on the MC was the top end. However all 3 have amazing quality. It was little things on the MC that makes me say that. Gas shocks on all seats, a switch for every function that was available in the BIG system.

I haven't been disappointed at all in the quality of our Tige. Plus the surf wave is top notch. A lot of people who surf behind it say it's like cheating. My fiancé was struggling to even get up behind my brother's MB and 2 days later was riding with no rope behind the Tige.

Do you happen to have any pics of wakeboarding wake? I've seen plenty of pics on the surf wave.

This is the only one I can get to while at work. This is with the ballast 25% full (500lbs) and the TAPS on 6 and 22mph.

Wicked cummins has a video of his son riding behind their RZ2 on here somewhere. Hopefully he sees this thread and can help out. I've been looking but can't find the thread.

Nice looking wake. The YouTube video wouldn't work for me though

We have a '07 and love it. The storage, performance, room. The wake is great and I only have 900 lbs. stock ballast.

                    Go get one!!
I'm on a boat man. I got my flippy floppies....

I've had my '07 since new and we absolutely love it. The wakeboarding wake is great stock and is even better with some weight in it. I don't wakeboard too much anymore, mostly into surfing. When I do weight it, I run 800lbs in the front and then fill up the surf sacs a little over half way which should be 1,000-1,200lbs in the rear and my daughter won't ride it because the wake is too big. LOL.

I have the custom surf sacs in the rear for surfing and it's definitely better than 90% of the boats out there. The only boat that I have found that is better/more fun to ride behind is the new Z3.

Fit and finish has been good on my boat. I only ever had to take the boat in 1 time for warranty work and it was minor. I now have 320 hours on it.

Dang Tim I am catching up to you, I am now at 260hrs on the RZ4. I cannot provide much insight on the RZ2 but the over all performance, storage, craftsmanship and qualty on these boats is top notch.

Love our RZ2, especially for the great surf wave. I think the wakeboard wake is good but it has its peculiarities.

The RZ2 is "tippier" than a MC so is more sensitive to people placement -- on the RZ2, you can either compensate with moving water around or have someone move.

The RZ2 needs a little more speed to produce a froth-free wake. Anything below 19 or 20 has problems not seen on a typical MC.

Nonetheless, I will take the tippiness because it makes it a better surf boat (more lean with less weight). And I moved to a faster speed (23) to clean up the wake.

Fit and finish has been great for awhile. If you look up my SMOKIN HOT BLUE/WHITE RZ2 thread i have pictures of my 2007 22VE with 425 hours on it.It was 4-1/2 years old in those pictures and looks just as good today with over 500 hours on it now.The new owner keeps it at the same marina as me.Trouble,a few loose screws and a couple of leaks all were easy fixes.Other than that just normal fluid changes and a impeller. My 2011 RZ2 has 172 trouble free hours.
                            .
I do all my own stunt work. hey ya'll watch dis.
