We are looking at a 2012 Z3 and were wondering if a 343 engine is big enough? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I wouldn't buy a boat that big with the 343. My bro has a 2012 MB 23 TWB with 2300lbs of ballast which I believe is the same amount as themax on a Z3. It definitely needs all 409hp that the 6.0 has. He has the trim plate and that helps so I don't think the TAPS is going to magically make the 343 enough engine.

I would ask ragboy, as i know he has done a lot of testing in a Z3

I have the 409 with high altitude prop
I ordered my Z3 with the 409. Prior to the Z3 I had a 2010 Malibu Wakesetter LSV with the Monsoon(350 hp). The monsoon with a high alt prop worked fine for the Malibu, but the Z3
is quite stout. I think if you can go the extra mile in price I would get the 409 for this boat. Either way you go, the surf wake is crazy in the Z3.

I run the 6.0 like in my 24v. It is a great motor. Running 4400 lbs of ballast it costs me $23 bucks average to run it. It pulls very well. No way would I go with a smaller motor in a boat this big. Just rode a new business with the 6.2 supercharged. Oh my god! That motor jumps out of the water, it was amazing. Do your self a favorite and opt for the at least the 6.0 liter motor. You will find it uses less fuel cause it does not have to work as hard.2016 Tige Z3, 2014 Tige Z3
