rear storage compartment drains

Anyone have issues with drainage on the three rear storage/ice compartments?
I usually keep ropes in these compartments and water doesn't drain out because the drainage holes are forward toward the bow and on the high side. Water just sits in here and rots out my ropes and just gets nasty.

I was thinking about drilling some more holes on the low back side and wanted to see if anyone else had done this with any success.

Just wipe it out with a chamois. Then put a Damp rid container in it for storage.You'll be good to go.
