    Oil cooler???

Hi all, slight problem with my 2005 22v riders edition. She started taking on water (quickly!) and having been towed to dry dock, it looks like the large bore raw water hose the exits (or enters?) the v drive on starboard side and then connects to a large brass fitting in the bottom of the hull with 2 oil (or hydraulic) lines into the bottom of it has separated completely from the brass fitting.

The rubber tube that carries the raw water now has a small brass fitting attached to it that at one time was part of the brass body.

So... firstly is this brass fitting an oil cooler? If so, does anyone know the part number and manufacturer as I think it will need replacing.

Secondly, is it possible or normal that this brass part can detach normally from the body of the "cooler" if so what is the method of re-attaching it as it does not seem to be a screw thread or anything like that.

    Cheers!!

Sounds like your transmission cooler came apart. I doubt its fixable.

Hi, do you know what part this is? Or do you have access to a schematic of the cooling system?

Head to perfprotech.com and search by v-drive model. Or you can order directly from Seakamp in Seattle : the cooler length, water input size (1.25") and threaded oil fitting size (different per trans many). Give them a call and they'll help you through it. I've seen a couple failures of the same variety, pretty rare, but obviously it happens. Not a repairable cooler though. Good Luck!
