What head-unit do you have? Are you looking for just a simple AUX hookup using the MP3 players 3.5MM headphone jack or are you looking for an interface that will connect with an ipod specific plug and charge the ipod?Mikes Liquid Audio: Knowledge Experience Customer Service you can trust-KICKER WetSounds ACME props FlyHigh Custom Ballast Clarion LiquidLumens LEDs Roswell Wave Deflector And More

I don't know yet. Will be buying the boat tomorrow. Just trying to prep so that I can possible install it Fri/Sat.
I would not be using the headphone jack. Would want to control from transom etc and charge it.
Once I know what model I'll post. I found a thread talking about an 08 22Ve on here also.

Hate to say it, but its going to be impossible to tell you what you need for for what you dont know you got. There are some many variations of MP3 interface, depending on what brand and model head-unit.
From the factory, a 22v could have had any where from a Clarion XMD1 to a CMD4. The XMD3 and CMD4 had a pair of RCA AUX jacks on the rear of the unit. This would allow for you to connect an MP3, but you would not have any control through the head-unit. All the control of the play lists would be done on the MP3. So, in order to have this at the transom, you would have to have a long cable that reach to the back. This would nto be an issue with an AUX cable that used the MP3's 3.5mm, but it will not charge. On many MP3, once you connect to the data port, for such as charging, the headphone jack is off. They do make cables that will plug to the data port for charging and music transfer and connect to the AUX RCA's, but the cables are short.
There are some cables that connect to the Clarion C-net data port, but im not sure on those older models if they are compatable.
If you MP3 player does BT, there are receivers that can be plugged into the head-units AUX and then sync your player to the BT, but this puts the MP3 back at the boat near the water.Mikes Liquid Audio: Knowledge Experience Customer Service you can trust-KICKER WetSounds ACME props FlyHigh Custom Ballast Clarion LiquidLumens LEDs Roswell Wave Deflector And More

Here is what I know for sure. They are 2 ways to hook up to CMD4 listed in least desirable to most without an adapter. None of which allow control outside of touching the ipod device
1. FM modulator: connects to headphone out converts to FM, put head unit on station and done - poor sound quality
2. headphone jack to RCA in on head unit. There are RCA aux inputs on the back of the head unit.
CMD4 has c-NET for changer and Sat only

CMD5 fits in the same hole and adds ipod control to c-NET bus

update
so the CMD4 is suppose to have an AUX RCA input. I looked for this input today and all RCA jacks are connected to something. I have no AUX input anywhere on the boat. I've got 2 kicker amps but those would use output RCA jacks.
What could possibly be using the input jacks? My plan was just to rig a temporary 3.5mm to RCA cable for our maiden voyage this afternoon.

What I did with my cmd4 was install a Harmon kardan drive & play near the driver controls so that I could operate the iPod playlist while driving the boat and the iPod/phone in the glovebox. I just sold my cmd4 and remotes but I still have the Harmon kardon drive & play unit if interested I could make sure everything is there and get it to you real inexpensive as I dint need it anymore. I plugged the iPod/phone into the electrical in th glovebox so it woul charge and this was by far the best set up for this radio. Only problem is you can't control same functions from remotes just volume as far as iPod/phone is concerned.
Good luck
Craig
