What is the model number for the Acme 15" 5-blade? Will be measuring clearance this weekend for sure!

A 15" prop will not fit our 2009 RZ2. Prop guard clearance is not problem (1.5" with current 14.5" diam 1235). But hull clearance is 13/16" with the current 14.5" diam 1235 prop. A 15" diam prop would leave 5/16".

I think you are measuring wrong. If you have a 14.5" prop now and have 13/16" clearance and went to a 15" prop, that would be a .25" difference on the clearance (it's a circle). 13/16" - 4/16" = 9/16" clearance with the new prop.

Also, I'm wondering why a 2009 RZ2 would have different clearance than a 2011 RZ2 when they have the same running gear.

I don't see why it would be, you would think the placement of those parts hasn't changed since '07.

So, I installed the 5 blade 2131 first on Saturday morning but the clearance to the hull was only about 3/8". I pulled it and installed the 1235 and had right at 5/8" so I ran with that for the day. They are both 14.5", why would the 2131 sit closer to the boat? Maybe the pitch of the prop?

Could I have tightened the nut too much? It said you only have to tighten it to 35lbs but I was using a wrench since I didn't have a deep enough socket for a torque wrench. I couldn't see the difference of a half turn or even a whole turn putting the prop a 1/4" closer to the hull but I could be wrong.

That's a good question. Did you measure and make sure that 5 blade is indeed 14.5"?

Pitch, pitch, pitch. when you bend the same diameter at a different pitch you change the diameter. The diameter is most likely what the prop would measure if it was flat.Think about it?
I do all my own stunt work. hey ya'll watch dis.

Re-measured clearance on our 2009 RZ2 with a 1235 14.5" prop, making sure tape was flat against hull. Slightly less than 7/8" clearance so I called it 13/16". Moving from 14.5" to 15" prop leaves 9/16" (thanks Timmy! for correction).

Given houstonshark's experience with actual clearance diameter on so-called 14.5" props, I wonder what the true clearance diameter of those 15" props are?
