    2006 20V Audible Alarm????

Had my boat out for the first time after service and I'm getting a "ghost" audible alarm.

First occurance was right after I launched. I was gassing up on the water (idled for 5 mins then putted over to gas dock). After filling up, I started it up and instead of the initial safety audible stopping, it remained in alarm (solid not beeping). Killed it, then started again, and the alarm went away. Idled out of the 5MPH zone, then up to speed for about 10 mins. We stopped at a hang out spot for 5 mins, killed the boat. Started up after 5 mins of sitting, audible alarm again (now everyone in the boat is like, WTH). Killed it, started it up again same alarm. Tried again, same alarm. Third time no alarm and off we went.

An hour or so later while surfing, the alarm showed up and killed the boat. This happened twice before we packed up and called it a day. Went all the way back (cruising about 3500RPM) no alarms.

Strange this is happening on first trip after service from my 5-star mechanic. Oil pressure and temp were normal for my boat.

ANYONE have any ideas? My mechanic can't take a look at the computer error codes for at least 1 week. Any other way to get error codes?...memorial day is coming up.

    Check your transmission fluid.

Ya, thought that. Is it wrong for me to think my mechanic checks that when I get serviced?

It really needs to be checked when on the water. I do all my own mechanic work because I don't trust anyone.

Well said. I've heard that from other boat owners...

It is sad that you just can't take anyone for their word anymore.

Does your 06 have the Tige EIDB dual battery option?

If so, you need to test the batteries. Next on the list of alarm causes is the knock sensor left unplugged. Its on the port side of the engine, middle of the block, just above the level of the oil pan.

Good news...dealer confirmed they DO check tranny everytime I'm in for service. They confirmed they lubed her up this year. They get to keep their 5-star rating BTW.

The alarm is coming from my throttle by wire tolerence sensor. I guess the 2006 Marine Power had an issue with a tight tolerance on the throttle. This was a known problem and was dialed back for later years. They ran through everything with my mechanic, he quoted me 4 hours which includes a computer upgrade. Should be back up and running this weekend!

Thanks for the help everyone...glad it was just a sensor and not a real mechanical issue.
