looking at a 05 22V limited edition tomorrow with GM Vortec 6.0L EFI 380HP engine. Online this boat looks beautiful. ~120 hours.

What do you guys not like about the GM engines? (just based on me reading the threads)

It is listed at just under 40k with tandem matching trailer

    thanks

Many of the engines in our boats are GM-based (meaning the basic engine is GM) but they are they made marine-ready ("marinized") by another company. For example, my engine is from PCM but is based on a 5.7L GM engine block.

So... who is listed as your boat's engine manufacturer? I bet it isn't "General Motors" but one of the marine engine companies.

I'm not the engine expert here, so I'll defer to others as to what exactly you have there. The GM sticker is pretty prominent, so perhaps it really IS a "GM marine engine". I'm sure someone here will know and comment.

I wouldn't worry about the basic engine, though. For example, my engine manufacturer (PCM) makes a version based on that 6.0L Vortec block and everyone that I've talked to or read about loves theirs.

I will say that is one super-clean engine! Hopefully it reflects the condition of the whole boat. I've seen "demo" boats that looked like someone had dumped a bucket of mud on the engine. That thing looks like it just rolled out of the factory door.

That is a Marine Power 380 closed cooling. Its a beast of an engine and should be a lot of power in a 22. I drove a few 24's with that engine and it had loads of power. You should be able to load that thing down and have power to spare.
I really love my experience with Marine Power. If I had an issue they were quick to resolve it and get me back on the water.

What info exactly are you looking for? Unless you buy a late 90's-2000's Correct Craft, you will find nothing but GM blocks. Ford got out of the marine biz and left it to GM.

Dont really ubderstand what you talking about not liking the GM engines. That is indeed a Marine Power 6.0L and will power that 22V nicely. We have customers with that setup and it is stout. When I was buying (used) the year boats I was lookng at had either a Marine Power or Mercruiser. Both GM engines but marinized in different ways. Ie (waterpumps exh manifolds,Intake manifolds, fuel systems just to name a few). I looked until I found one with a Marine Power engine. I prefer the MP over the Mercruiser. You will have a great boat if you can make the deal happen. Hope it all works out for you.

Looks nice! hows the interior holding up? I have a Marine power in my 05 and it runs like a top at about 210hrs.

That's a great looking boat! Engine compartment is spotless (usually a good sign). Good luck!

x2. The engine compartment and the bilge (inside surface of the hull) are usually great indicators of how careful the previous owner(s) were.

I had l2005 22i with marine power 5.7 put 450 hours on it. Not one single engine problem. Plenty of power.

                            last thing on financing

Who have you guys used to get financing? Last year I started an application with a local "national" bank. It was a nightmare and we have tier1 credit. Any experience with the online guys?
