Engine Oil for a 5.7L MP

I have a 2006 20v with a 5.7l MP engine. What kind of oil should be used in this engine?

You will probably get MANY opinions.

It's more important that you have oil in the engine than what type of oil. I run 20w/50 synth per my manual. Just make sure that if you run synth once, don't go back and forth to conventional. I've had mechanics tell me that they have never replaced an engine due to improper type of oil, just lack of it.

I run Rotella 15-40. I buy it from Wal Mart @ $13 gallon. I use this oil in almost everything I own. Diesel VW, Boat and mutliple street and dirt bikes. Never had any issues.
