Installing a floating wedge on a Tige 24v

Ok I have the wedge in hand. I should start the install if it's possible next week sometime!! Here's to hoping it works and not a waste of time

For anyone that hasn't been following my posts on this. I plan to install this and keep my taps plate for the most part on my 2005 tige 24v. The goal is the best surf wave in the world!

I think I am going to fabricate a backing plate made out of thick stainless steel that also attaches to the stringer for strength. Everyone think that's a good idea?

After seeing how Malibus are built, I don't think you have anything to worry about. Mounting it to the stringers would be pretty slick and would make it just about bullet proof.

How do you initially deploy that thing? I understand it "floats" but does it just have a simple latch like the standard wedge that just locks it down to a "starting" position that allows it to start "floating"?

Better wait for a response from WABoating - he'll let you know the best way.

I was told the transom should be strong enough. I just don't like the word should. Yes it has simple quick pins on springs to initially deploy. Then it just "floats". I will be changing that though if the pins don't clear the taps ram.

I assume you have the FAE situation figured out?

Yep the folks at fae have a brand new solution for Malibu owners. It's pretty slick and simple. Larry is gonna hook me up with one!

Very interested in the results of this. You sure know how to max out the wake potential.

How will it clear the TAPS plate? Won't it hang lower that the bottom of the plate (obviously)? Isn't the TAPS plate wider than the wedge arms?

Nice! I recognize those booths from somewhere. Good to see the R and D going down at the Brewery. Can't wait to check that out this summer. Also I have a friend who just got a new CNC if you need any stainless parts made.

When fully engaged its not 90 from the transom. More like 85-75 or so. I could get lucky and it will clear the ram. Most likely I will need to cut out the middle bar and then do quick pins from the outside. The taps plate is going to be cnc'd notched to let the arms of the wedge move freely. Then the plate is going to reforced to handle the force.
