    RZ2 sea strainer

While I have my 2007 RZ2 apart to replace the steering cable, I really want to install a sea strainer. I read a few threads, but still have questions:

    1. Has any other RZ2 owner done this? I don't possibly see how there is enough room. There is too little space between the oil filter and trans cooler, and I hate to add lots of hose and put it someplace hard to reach like under the rear bench seat.

    2. Are the water hoses all 1-1/4", I couldn't see any markings but that is what they seem to measure as.

    3. Is the water path through the v-drive just an open pipe, so that is why it is OK to install the strainer after the v-drive?

    4. I noticed some corrosion around the two 90-degree elbows in and out of the v-drive. It looks like it is from the square baseplate where these elbows are held on by four allen-head bolts. Is anyone familiar with these fittings? Are there gaskets inside that can be replaced? They are on the suction side so that should help, but they are below the waterline. I don't think my boat leaks any water, so maybe the corrosion is just on the surface from splashing around in the bilge?

Thanks in advance for any input.

Yikes, no other RZ2 owners out there have retrofitted a sea strainer?

I want to. My buddy did one in his 22Ve and it only took him about an hour he said. As I recall, his was located right next to the fresh water intake on the floor and the hose wasn't very long.

Would reccommend you add access hatch in face of rear seat just like Tige 2010 up and install strainer on starboard side , easy access , easy install.
Maybe somebody can show picks of the hatch and strainer .

Yes pictures would be great. What manufacturer brand if sea strain is being used on the pcm engines?

It would be great to see some photos of an RZ2 sea strainer install, I'm still stumped on how to make it work out.
