    Throttle/gear shifter for Tige 2001 21V

My Gear shifter/throttle it not working well. I have checked the cables which are moving smoothly, so the problem appears to be the shifter/throttle controller. It works roughly, but it is not smooth and sometime catches making it dangerous when operating the boat because it is unpredictable on when it might lock up. Does anyone have a suggestion of where to purchase a new controller for a Tige 2001 21V.

Man I have been trying to work this issue out on my 2001 Tige for a while. The problem I have had is within the components of the throttle shift collar. There are some teeth on there that once theywear down they basically cause the whole throttle to slip and allow you to move the throttle without squeezing the safety/detent button. Let me know what you find out... I have gotten nowhere on this and need to step up my game. Maybe a phone call to tige but I have a feeling they will want to replace the whole throttle when there should be an easier fix considering all the other parts are functioning. What are the full symptoms of your problem. How is it catching? Do you get stuck moving foward??

The unit is made by Morse Marine Products, model MV-2. They are in Hudson, OH. 216-653-7799. That is on the front of the owners manual for mine.

I have a 2000 21V with the same issue. I can go from forward to neutral to reverse with no catch. Scarey with people in the water. Afraid to take it in for fear of a dealership deal...if you know what I mean.

I get a lot of play in my lever as well. I was hoping I could just tighten it up. Sounds like that is not possible?

I'm looking to take care of it soon. Maybe visit Tige in Texas and see what they have laying around as well. I have a feeling this not so expensive part is going to be extremely expensive to replace.. if at all possible. I'll be sure to let you know though.

Could I just replace the entire throttle control with this and then just move the taps switch to the dash? They no longer manufacture the Morse Mv2. They do have an MV 3, but it looks cheesy.

I took the boat out for a test run and although the throttle works just fine it is kind of sticky and the lever has a lot of play in it. I realize new cables would probably fix the stickiness, but I think the only fix for the play in the lever is a whole new control. I really like having a clean and tight throttle control.
