Probably a cutter stainless. They put those on and they were pitched for ski boats. Great for skiing, lousy for wakeboarding and useless for surfing. Ditch it and call Acme. Best move you could make. You will think you have a new engine.
Ahh, yup. Call Acme. They will ask you all the right questions and determine what prop you need based on your needs, your boat and your location. I run a 653 but I run the boat anywhere from 4500'-6500'. Don't assume its perfect for your boat. Just call. It's easy.
From what your describing, it sounds like you have the stock OJ on there or as laser said the stainless(I forgot about that one, thanks laser). Keep it for a spare and put a 21st century prop on there. It will make a world of difference.
Thanks so much Nicky and Laser, I'm gonna call ACME right now.
You'll love calling Acme. They're awesome. I learned a lot about props, boats, and engines just talking to them. Answer their questions, do exactly what they say, and you'll be thrilled.
There's a four blade on right now. Just had the boat repowered, but it feels weak out of the hole and max rpms are only reaching 3400. ...
Our 2000 21V came with an OJ 14”-18, 1 1/”8, LH, 4 blade.
In 2003 Tige switched to an Acme #537 13.5”-16, 1 1/8”, LH, 4 blade.
After switching to the 537 ours had a lot more pickup out of the hole.
We usually wakeboard and tube with 8-10 people.
For surfing you might want to go one more level.
Call Acme, you'll need the engine info and V-drive ratio (probably 1.46:1, blue or 1:1, black).
You guys are all awesome! Thanks so much for all the feedback. I'm loving being on this forum already.
So I called ACME and talked to a helpful guy named Bill. I have the 1:1 ratio drive, so Bill recommended the 525 or 653. He said I should expect an extra 100 rpms and a little more power with the 653. So I am currently shopping for one of these props. The plan is to get either prop ASAP and then the other model closer to summer and see which one we prefer.
We will be using this boat commercially, offering wakeboarding, wakesurfing lessons as well as kneeboarding and tubing (unfortunately a majority of people just wanna tube but its there $ so whatever blows your hair back).
We are in Hilton Head Island, SC. If anybody on the forum plans on coming to HHI, let me know. We will be happy to take you for a pull.
