    Boat hours concern?

Hi there, looking at a 1999 Tige 2100V and it has over 900 hours on it.

The engine is a 5.7L Merc Engine.

Is the engine hours anything to be concerned about?

Some say yes other say no.

Are there any maintenance records? What does the engine look like? I would have it checked by a mechanic, hooked up, check for codes, etc..

What do those hours represent? Meaning, WOT, skiing, surfing, boarding, cruising, party cove, etc...

The other thought is if you have any concerns and then have to sale it are your potential buyers going to have any concerns making it hard to sale?

    Just my

My boat is a 2000 and has 470hrs. My truck is an 04 with over 4000hrs in 120k miles on it and it is in no way babied like my boat is.

My 2000 has 560 hours, but maintenance is performed regularly so I do not see that as a problem. I would rather have a boat that is used and maintained regularly than one that just sits and accumulates moisture that is never burned off. Too me, sitting is much harder on mechanical devices than being used and maintained. I think Dom Forte can attest to that with the boats he has.

I know of an 07 x15 on our local lake with over 1200 hours of hard wakeboarding hours. It also has over 3000# of ballast in it. I would just worry about resale In the future.

My 2004 has 1220hrs of hard core use and still runs like new , if the boat was taken care of it should have a lot of life in it.
Just see if they kept a log of all maintenece done, you know that is something we havent ever talked about on this site , it is how does everybody out there record the services they either do or have done.
It would defintely enhance resale value to keep a log, that you could show a buyer when selling your boat.
