    Ordering 2012 RZ2

Sold the X-Star to get a proper surf boat... couple questions

I really liked the Vision Aire seat... but saw on another forum it's not available for 2012... is this true?

Any advantage to getting the "pro ballast" for surfing? (Vs Surf Ballast)

I really don't like the location of the heater... Anyone moved their heaters on a factory order? (X star had 2 tubes in the aft, and a vent by drivers feet)

The seat is a bummer, but that company is no longer making it.

You definitely want the pro ballast. It allows you to put 400 on the surf side, or even 800 up front for a real long wave. Add in the custom surf sacs, and its amazing. I always tell people, though, they should never fill up all 800 up front unless conditions allow. Not a good idea on choppy weekend conditions.

Here is an example of the longer wake you can get with the extra weight up front:

          Heh heh. Art Vandelay FTW

What about engines? Should I upgrade?

Had 400hp in the X star, and it was just enough to get planing when ballasts were full and ppl in the boat

That is really too bad about visionaire

We have a 340 in our 24Ve, and the 343 in the RZ2. We only surf, some times wake skate. Never felt like we needed more power. And they SIP gas. like 3-4 GPH wake surfing which is unheard of. Centurion guys say they use 8 GPH. Our 24Ve loaded to the nines still does 3.75 GPH wake surfing all day. If you are going to do a lot of weighted down wake boarding, you may want the 409. We have driven around 2 RZ2s with 409s and I really didn't feel the extra power. But I probably would if trying to plan towing a wakeboarder with a couple thousand lbs of ballast.

Since you are going to spec out the boat and order it, leave the heater off and have your dealer install it, placing the tubes where you want them.

Congrats and welcome to the Tige fam!

Sounds great, I'll skip the engine

                We dont really wakeboard anymore

Does Tige allow me to order a different prop? If so, should I?

70% surf (starboard and port). 30% tube with little kids

Thanks for the tip on the heater: I'll custom install it later

                  LOL, I bet you don't....

Congrats and I have to agree with everyone else. The standard engine for the RZ2 will be just fine...

Logically true, but then again - I've never said "I wish I had a smaller engine". And you only get to make that choice one time, when the boat is built.

I have always been happy with our decision to go with the PCM409 (with cat) on our 2009 RZ2. I have never driven another RZ2 so I cannot directly compare. But the day we took it for its first on water outing with the dealer, he said it the difference was very noticeable (of course, what else would he say).

I think about how glad I am to have the 409 every time we surf or have 10+ people on board.

And our sips gas too, about 3-4 gph for a mix of surfing and wakeboarding.
