    What size of prop for....

    2006 24V
    385hp GM Vortec 6L
    between 500-900 above sea level
    around 2500 ballast

    Current prop 381 13.5" x 17 VL
    4 blade
    1 1/8" bore

Well we pinched a submerged "something" and bent our 1 and only prop this weekend. Wasn't bad but bent 1 blade tip backwards a bit. I have sent it out for repair but.... I do need a spare. The dealer has a 13.5" x 16 used prop that I am thinking about. High end speed is not a concern at all, but hole shot is. Seems from what I read from the search is I definitely should stay with a 4 blade??

#1 Does anyone have a recommendation of which prop might be good?

#2 Does anyone know the max RPM's I should be at?

    Thanks for the input

With the amount of weight you are running, I would definitely go with an Acme 1235, 14.5 x 14.25. Will give you a much much much better hole shot then the current prop you are running. I'm assuming it was a pretty slow go out of the hole with that much weight.

I believe max RPM's are 5200, but for your engine I'm not a hundred percent on that. The thing you will notice with the bigger more pitched out prop is your rpms will go up a boarding or surfing speed. You will also lose some or quite a bit off your top end against that 13.5 x 17. I would keep that as a back up and get the 1235. Contact either Chpthril(mike) or Spbfan (andrew) they can get you a price on that prop.

He probably can't run a 14.5 inch prop. I would contact acme. I am a 2005 tige 24v and 13.5 is my limit on prop size.

What pitch do you have on your prop?

Your boat has to be the same as mine??

NO way I can do a 14" The prop as it is now is above 1/2" from the guard on the trailer now. I would have to build up bunks and also the roller

Contact acme. I am running the 1579 but that is pretty extreme for your boat and weight.

FYI... here is a reply from Acme

The first step down would be the Acme 537-13.5 LH 16 4 bld 1 1/8" bore .105 cup. This prop sells for $529. The 537 will give you a much stronger hole shot & holding power. The second step down would be the Acme 1631-13.5 LH 14.25 4 bld 1 1/8" bore .150 cup. This prop will give even a stronger hole shot. It all depends on what your main usage is going to be. If it is all wake board & wake surf the 1631 is the prop for you.

I thought they changed to the deep strut on the later 24v's. Sorry about that. I have always heard that you should have at least 3/4 clearance from the hull to the prop blade. But I've been running a 14 x 14.25 all year on my 23v, and it has about 3/8 to 1/2" of clearance and have had no problems. I have a 1579 as a backup but the extra half inch of prop lowered my rpms by about 250, thus I'm getting better gas mileage..
